🌞 Summer of Food 2026 applications are now open for girls ages 5–16, with limited spaces available. The program offers hands-on, culturally rooted culinary experiences that connect food, creativity, and confidence from story to soil to table. 🥳

Cohorts include:

📚Storybook Cooks (ages 5–8, grades K–2): A culturally enriching program that blends storytelling with hands-on cooking activities to strengthen reading comprehension, spark creativity, and introduce foundational culinary skills in a fun, interactive environment that nurtures a love for learning and self-expression.

🌱Roots to Table (ages 8–16): A two-week immersive experience where girls learn to grow fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables and transform them into nourishing meals and creative beverages made with whole, fresh ingredients, building skills in gardening, cooking, flavor exploration, and culturally rooted healthy eating from soil to table.

🍉🍒Flavor Flip: Sweet & Savory Edition (ages 8–16): A 5-day hands-on culinary experience where girls discover how one ingredient can become both a savory entrée and a sweet dessert, building confidence through baking, roasting, and flavor balancing while working with seasonal ingredients.

This four-Saturday series is led by inspiring women with Miami roots whose work honors the legacy of the Black Diaspora. You’ll cook, taste, and explore the stories, traditions, and creativity behind the foods that make our city so vibrant.

This cohort is a chance to celebrate your heritage, spark creativity, build confidence, and see how culture and cuisine come together—all while having fun and learning from amazing role models right here in Miami!

Join Roots + Sazón: Black Diaspora & Hispanic Foodways, a hands-on, three-Saturday cooking adventure led by Chef Jada, a Baltimore native who spent time in Texas honing her culinary skills and learning the origins and preparation of traditional Southern and Hispanic dishes! 🍲💛

Explore bold flavors, learn scratch-made cooking techniques, and discover how ingredients like corn, rice, beans, peppers, and spices connect cultures across the Black Diaspora and Hispanic food traditions.
You’ll practice skills like marinating, sautéing, roasting, and assembling dishes while learning the history, creativity, and stories behind the foods. This is your chance to cook, connect, and celebrate culture through flavor!

Black Girls Cook is hiring Youth Culinary Instructors in Baltimore & Miami to teach girls ages 5–16 through Black food history, culture, and intergenerational recipes.

This role is about:
🖤 Teaching cooking skills rooted in our stories.
🖤 Honoring dishes passed down across generations.
🖤 Using food to build pride, confidence, and connection.

You don’t just teach recipes here—you pass down legacy.

📍 WHERE: Baltimore & Miami (public transit accessible)
🕒 WHEN: Saturdays and school breaks
💰 PAY: $25–$50/hour
✔ ServSafe certified
✔ Culinary experience required
