On Saturday, May 9th, Black SONs had the honor of serving and empowering young women from elementary through high school at the EmpowerH.E.R. Teen Summit themed, “Crowned with Confidence: Building HER Legacy.” 👑✨

Through hands-on robotics and engineering activities, we were able to expose young ladies to STEM in a way that was interactive, engaging, and inspiring — reminding them that innovation, leadership, and confidence all belong to them too. 🤖💡

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside so many incredible mothers, mentors, leaders, and organizations committed to helping girls embrace their brilliance, build sisterhood, and dream boldly about their futures.

The future is powerful when young women are encouraged to lead, create, and believe in themselves. 💕

Huge thank you to BGE for having Black Success Oriented Networks as part of their Take Your Child to Work Day on April 23rd!

We had an amazing time engaging with more than 100 students ranging from 2nd through 12th grade through hands-on STEM experiences including robotics bowling, obstacle courses, teamwork challenges, and problem solving activities.

Beyond the fun, it was powerful seeing families connect with opportunities like our Dreamers & Doers STEM Camp and continue conversations about exposure, confidence, innovation, and what’s possible for our youth.

The future is bright when students are given the chance to explore, create, and believe in themselves. 💡🤖🚀

What a powerful afternoon. 🖤🖤

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, spoke, mentored, sponsored, volunteered, and helped make the 4th Annual Boys to Men Power Brunch such a meaningful experience.

What started four years ago as a simple idea — bringing good men together to uplift each other and our communities — continues to grow into something truly special.

This year was especially meaningful as we intentionally welcomed high school young men into the room for the first time. Watching generations connect, share experiences, exchange wisdom, and build relationships in real time was exactly the purpose behind this event.

At Black SONs, our mission is to empower underrepresented communities through stronger math and science education, meaningful mentorship, and exposure to opportunity. Events like this are a reminder that real impact doesn’t only happen in classrooms — it happens through connection, conversation, and community.

The energy in the room was genuine.
The conversations were intentional.
And the mission was on full display.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this possible and look forward to continuing the work together.

Introducing our second Black SONs Legacy Award recipient: Kyree Peterson.

As part of our inaugural Black SONs Legacy Award, we are proud to recognize young men who demonstrate leadership, character, academic commitment, and service to their community.

Kyree Peterson embodies these values in a quiet but powerful way.

Known for being adaptable, dependable, and thoughtful, Kyree has built a reputation as someone his peers can trust — always willing to lend a hand and approach challenges with a calm, problem-solving mindset.

Academically, he has shown consistent effort and determination, maintaining strong performance while continuing to grow each year.

But what stands out most is how he shows up for others.

Whether mentoring fellow students in Chess Club, helping them build confidence and strategy, or serving his community as a Student Election Judge, Kyree has demonstrated a genuine commitment to leadership through service.

In his own words:

“I learned how to be smart, how to be brave, but most importantly, I learned how to be myself, unapologetically.”

That sense of self, combined with his discipline and character, is exactly what this award represents.

As he prepares to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice, we are confident that Kyree will continue to grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact in his community and beyond.

This is what the Black SONs Legacy Award is about —
recognizing young men who are not only achieving, but becoming.

Please join us in congratulating Kyree Peterson.

Introducing our first Black SONs Legacy Award recipient: Malachi Parrott.

This year, for the first time, we introduced the Black SONs Legacy Award — created to recognize a graduating student who exemplifies leadership, character, academic commitment, and service to their community.

We are proud to honor Malachi Parrott as one of our inaugural recipients.

Malachi represents exactly what this award stands for.

A disciplined and focused student, he has demonstrated consistent academic effort, integrity, and responsibility throughout his high school journey. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or in his community, Malachi leads by example.

His experiences — from international service work in Brazil to participating in programs that deepen cultural understanding and empathy — reflect a young man who is not only committed to his own growth, but to understanding and uplifting others.

As a state champion athlete, Malachi understands that success is built through discipline, teamwork, and accountability — values that show up in every aspect of his life.

In his own words:

“This award is not just about what I have done so far, but the standard I am expected to carry moving forward.”

That mindset is exactly why he was selected.

As he prepares to study business in college, with aspirations of building something of his own and giving back to his community, we have no doubt that Malachi will continue to create a meaningful legacy.

While he was unable to attend due to athletic commitments, we were honored to have his mother present to accept the award on his behalf.

This is what the Black SONs Legacy Award is about —
recognizing young men who are already walking in purpose and preparing to lead.

Please join us in congratulating Malachi Parrott.

Yesterday was a powerful day at the BCYF Summer of Possibilities Fair 🙌🏾

We had the opportunity to connect with so many incredible families, showcase what Dreamers & Doers is all about, and build real excitement for what’s coming this summer.

A huge thank you to Baltimore City Youth Fund and President & CEO Alysia Lee for their support through the Summer of Possibilities grant — this work doesn’t happen without partnerships like this.

To all the families who came out to R. House — we appreciate you. The energy, the conversations, and the interest in creating opportunities for your children meant everything.

And now… we’re just getting started 👀
