What an incredible 10 weeks it has been hosting our very first Do Good Institute Summer Intern! Kyrene, thank you for dedicating your time and talents to learning about Women Leading Baltimore and the girls we serve. Through your leadership of our “Stories of Sisterhood” project, you interviewed girls, parents, board members, and community partners to capture the heart of our work. Because of you, we are better positioned to share the powerful story of our growth, impact, and sisterhood over the last 10 years. We are so grateful for everything you contributed and cannot wait to see where your gifts take you next!

Last week we had the opportunity to provide words of wisdom to Coppin Academy c/o of 2030. We loved the tradition of the pinning ceremony but what we loved more than that is the transformation that took place from day 1 of Summer Bridge to Day 21. This class is ready for the many opportunities ahead of them and as they prepare for the first official day of school we hope they will remember:
1. Be on Time
2. Be Curious
3. Have Fun
4. Ask for Help WHEN YOU NEED IT

Last week, our girls stepped inside T. Rowe Price and walked away with lessons that extend far beyond the workplace.

Throughout the day, they learned that building a meaningful career starts with curiosity, intentionality, and a willingness to grow. Our hosts encouraged them to:

✨ Connect their interests to what their communities need
✨ Stay curious about what is happening around you
✨ Be teachable, coachable, and open to feedback
✨ Learn about the power of social impact and philanthropy
✨ Be intentional about learning and even more intentional about listening

The biggest takeaway? Opportunities are not only about what you know. They are also shaped by how you listen, how you respond to feedback, and how intentionally you use your interests and talents to serve others.

A special thank you to Alex for curating such an empowering experience and to the countless women who joined us, thank you for your vulnerability and for helping our girls imagine new possibilities for their futures.

Thank you to our very own Cait and the Baltimore Museum of Art for welcoming our girls into your space for week two of our summer series. Our girls left with a greater love for art and wisdom they can hold onto for the rest of their lives.

Stay moisturized. Floss Daily. Stay Curious.

Our Women in the Workplace: Summer Series kicks off tomorrow, and we’re heading back to Camden Yards thanks to Tickets for Kids Charities 🧡⚾

Our girls will cheer on the Orioles, connect with one another, and explore the many careers that help bring game day to life, both on and off the field. We are so excited to create space for girls to see what’s possible, build sisterhood, and experience Baltimore in a new way.

Follow along every Wednesday in July as our girls explore a new industry and meet women leading in the workplace. We just might end up where you work next.

Meet Kyrene, our very first Do Good Institute intern! Throughout the summer she will oversee our “Stories of Sisterhood” project to help us expand our impact and storytelling beyond the girls we serve. Many of you may receive an email from her for an interview over the next few weeks. Help us welcome her to the team!

To the Class of 2026: this prayer is for you.

As you step into your next chapter, may you walk boldly, choose wisely, and remember that your voice, your presence, and your purpose matter. May you never shrink yourself to fit into spaces you were meant to transform. We are proud of you, we believe in you, and we are praying for all that is ahead.

And to everyone else: this graduation season, let’s go beyond simply saying “congratulations.”

Leave a graduate with something they can carry — words of wisdom, a prayer, a reminder of who they are, or encouragement for who they are becoming. And to those who participated in our “Dear Graduate” campaign, thank you.

Because sometimes the right words, shared at the right time, become the voice a young person hears when they need courage for the road ahead. Congratulations, Class of 2026. Keep going. Keep becoming. Keep leading.

Here’s to the mamas, aunties, grandmas, bonus moms, and mother figures whose voices live rent-free in our heads.

From “Do you have McDonald’s money?” to “I’m not one of your little friends,” our girls reminded us that a mother’s love is often wrapped in laughter, lessons, and lines we will never forget.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who guide us, correct us, cheer for us, pray over us, and somehow always know when we’re doing too much. 🩷

What’s something your mother always says? Drop it in the comments.
