Congratulations to one of TIN’s newest research partners, Dr. Beverly L. Davidson, on receiving the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT) Outstanding Achievement Award, the society’s highest honor.
Dr. Davidson serves as Director of the Raymond G. Perelman Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapeutics, Chief Scientific Strategy Officer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Penn Medicine.
She joins Dr. Brendan Zotter and Dr. Steven Scherer, in leading a TIN funded project titled “Improved Viral Targeting of Schwann Cells for Gene Therapy in Hereditary Neuropathies.” Their work aims to engineer AAV variants that more precisely target Schwann cells, improving both the safety and effectiveness of future gene therapies for CMT.
