For over a year we have BEGGED for someone to give Simba a chance, because he REALLY deserves it after everything he's been through.
Unfortunately, like everyone else in his life, I've failed him. I have not been able to find a foster, adopter, trainer, rescue, or sanctuary that can help him.
I've never had to euthanize a dog with mild behavior issues just because we ran out of options, but that's where we are. Normally, I would bring him home and try to help or atleast give him a few days of being spoiled and loved inside a home but that's not an option. My leg is broken in five places, we have 7 dogs, and two young children.
I'll tell you what he needs and how you can help. If you aren't here to help, then CARRY ON, because I will not tolerate nasty or ignorant comments.
Needs:
To be the only pet.
A home without young children.
Extensive physical and mental stimulation daily.
A routine.
A fenced in yard.
An experienced and patient owner/handler.
Decompression time and a training program.

We have until TUESDAY 6/18 to find another miracle for Simba. He's located in Virginia but can be transferred ANYWHERE to an appropriate home or program.
When Simba was being abused at our local shelter and was just days away from being killed EVERYONE was on his side but the moment he was moved into boarding he was forgotten. His reels have had over 100k views and we still don't have one single application.

Let’s do better people!

We knew it was too good to be true. Just when we were holding our breath because we finally had a few empty dog kennels, they all come pouring back in.

What feels like the 500th puppy coming in just in the last few months. How are there so many puppies getting out and roaming around? This cutie pictured went missing and nobody is trying to find him?

2 people at once in the lobby to return a dog as someone is on the phone to return a 3rd (although only 1 of them wasn’t for a good reason). A senior dog dumped as a “stray” that we later found out was their own dog. If we had a dollar for every time this happened, we’d have all the funds for our new building by now. People can be so terrible, but that’s for another day…

The dog whose owners knew he was here from day 1 and let him sit here for a week, before finally showing up on the day he was officially ours to reclaim him. When we wanted to neuter him: “No, because we use him for breeding and if he’s neutered, why would we want him anymore?”

The goldendoodle who has been in here so frequently that it’s now mandatory by law that she’s spayed. Just what we need, more unwanted puppies in this world because an unspayed female dog roams the streets. Are the goldendoodle lovers going to want a puppy when the dad is a pitbull? We didn’t think so.

Dogs with owners allow their dog to take up a kennel for a dog that’s actually in need.

Our community needs to do better. But until that actually happens, those of you that already do right by the animals (and there are a lot of you!) - please consider coming out to volunteer, foster, or adopt. We need more people like our followers, and less people like those dumping their dogs.
