Commending the significant partnership orchestrated by the Chesapeake Region Safety Council, The Jonah B. Foundation had the opportunity to share Jonah’s story, at Calvert High, where the imperative discourse on seat belt safety and impaired driving took center stage. With sincere appreciation, we joined forces with CHS criminal justice students and esteemed professionals from Calvert County’s Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department, Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad, Calvert County Sheriff's Office, Calvert County Public Schools, Maryland State Police, Zero Deaths Maryland, Calvert County Department of Public Safety, and the many others to amplify this critical message.

Repost: “I can’t find the words to express how I feel about today’s high school tribute game for Jonah.
There was such a nice turnout of family, friends, former teachers and community to show their support. Thank you coach/ Officer Tippins for a day I’ll remember forever!
And I’m sure Jonah was quite proud and honored by today’s events.
Also while looking for a jersey to wear to the game I found Jonah’s high school ring!!! 😍”

All week, my public health team and I have been trying to come up with the perfect thing to say today.

We realized there IS NO perfect thing to say, because in a perfect world, a death involving the lack of a seatbelt wouldn’t exist.

In a perfect world, we would know when we die from a motor vehicle collision.

I wish we lived in a perfect world; unfortunately we do not.

Wear your seatbelt, and continue to live your life! It’s what Jonah would have wanted.
