Introducing the Next Generation of STEM Leaders!
Today, we shine the spotlight on Dr. Kizzmekia S. Corbett.
Dr. Corbett is a trailblazing researcher and the scientific lead for the Coronavirus Vaccines & Immunopathogenesis Team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Vaccine Research Center (VRC). Her journey began with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, with a secondary major in Sociology, from the University of Maryland–Baltimore County, where she excelled as a Meyerhoff Scholar and an NIH undergraduate scholar. She went on to earn her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014.
Today, Dr. Corbett heads her own laboratory in the department of immunology and infectious diseases, while also actively contributing to the NIH Fellows Committee and serving as a global public speaker and advocate for STEM education and vaccine awareness.
