FYI, from our neighbors in Ashburton

Ashburton neighbors, please read this carefully.

Animal Control responded to Dennlyn Road today after a fox that is believed to have rabies got into a fight with a dog and blood was drawn. The fox is still in the area and has not yet been captured.

If you see this fox please call 311 immediately.

The fox appears very thin and likely has bite marks on him from the fight. Do not approach him under any circumstances.

Animal Control is asking neighbors to help identify where this fox may be hiding so they can set a trap and capture him safely. If you have seen him in your yard, near your home, or anywhere in the neighborhood please report it to 311 right away.

Keep your children and pets inside until further notice and please share this post so every neighbor on your block sees it.

Stay safe Ashburton. We look out for each other.

Check out City Ranch, run by one of our own WH residents! Great work!

Building a stronger, more connected Baltimore together! 🤝🏽✨ A lot of folks don't realize just how much happens right here at City Ranch. Through our powerful partnership with Turning Point Learning Center, we're giving local youth safe spaces to learn, lead, and grow outside the classroom. We love being a pillar for this community, but we need your help spreading the word so more families and youth can find us. Share this post and let Baltimore know what's happening right in our backyard! ❤️🐎

Announcement Regarding the July 3 Trash Collection and July 1st’s Recycling:

Friday trash collections will occur as regularly scheduled. Due to the heat, collections will begin at 5am to ensure crews can avoid the extreme heat of the afternoon.

Place your cans out this evening so you don’t miss collection.

Please note, Recycling was canceled this week due to the extreme heat. It will remain suspended all week, and commence the week of July 6th.

A big thank you to DPW and our sanitation workers for getting the job done despite this heat wave!

FYI

PARVOVIRUS CLOSURE–JUNE 2026: At this time, BARCS is closed for all dog intake/admissions, adoptions, and foster placements until further notice.

Recently, BARCS took in a group of dogs from a Baltimore City Animal Control impound case that appeared healthy upon arrival. Nearly a week later, several dogs from that group began showing signs of Parvovirus and subsequently tested positive. Because Parvovirus has an incubation period of up to two weeks, dogs can appear healthy and may not test positive until they begin showing symptoms. Symptoms include: lethargy, vomiting and diarrhea.

Because these dogs were housed within our shelter population before becoming symptomatic, our veterinary team is now working to determine the scope of potential exposure and implement appropriate disease control measures.

If you are currently in the process of adopting a dog from BARCS, a member of our team will be contacting you directly to discuss next steps. Please keep an eye on your phone and email for updates.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this situation and prioritize the health and safety of the dogs in our care. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

**BARCS is still open for cat adoptions and fostering.**

Thank you to all the neighbors who reached out about the tree that fell in Centennial Garden. We were very luck my it missed the power lines, bench, and garden sign. Most of the plants remain intact. We did lose a couple smaller trees including a red bud, and a sweet bay magnolia.

Some of the lights came down too, but the appear mostly intact and able to be fixed.

Right now we are most concerned about tree removal. We have some neighbor volunteers willing to help split logs and cut some of the tree. This tree is a massive white oak with a trunk at least 3 feet wide. It has a straight trunk, meaning it could be desirable to some woodworkers. If you know any woodworkers who are well equipped to harvest in exchange for help removing some of the wood - please inbox us the information.

We will likely have to fundraise for removal efforts regardless due to the size of the tree. While this is unfortunate we are very blessed no one was injured, and there is no major damage.

Thank you,
Brenda
