🎄Have you all seen the gorgeous Christmas trees that have been installed in Eager Park? 🤩

A couple of weeks ago, EBDI partnered with Lillibridge for their annual Tree Lighting and Winter Clothing and Toy Drive, right at the entrance of Eager Park. It was cold, but definitely worth it to see so many children and families grab essential winter gear, toys, and even hot chocolate and apple cider!

If you haven’t already, go check out the trees! They are photoshoot-worthy!

You’re invited! 🎉

The Midtown East Community Association (MECA) is hosting a special celebration on Saturday, September 20 to honor the life and legacy of Henrietta Lacks with the unveiling of a brand-new community mural. 🎨

Created in partnership with artist Shawn Perkins, Nosreme Baltimore, the Henrietta Lacks Legacy Group, and the Henrietta Lacks House of Healing, this mural is a tribute to her global impact and our neighborhood’s voice. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

Festivities begin at 4pm with a ribbon cutting at 800 N. Washington Street, followed by food from Blacksauce Kitchen and live performances by the Black Juilliard Alumni Association and the Morgan State University Choir at Henderson-Hopkins (2100 Ashland Ave). 🍽️

This free event is open to everyone, with priority tickets available for community members until September 10. Link to RSVP is below, or click the link in our bio! 👇🏾

🚧 Phase 2B Public Infrastructure Construction Update - Ashland Avenue 🚧

🚌 EBDI and Stella May completed sidewalk and streetscape improvements on the north side of Ashland Avenue just in time for Henderson-Hopkins students to return to school!

🚜 Construction continues on the south side of Ashland (blocks 2100–2200), so please follow detour signs and stay safe.

👉 Swipe through to see the updates and all the progress we’re making in the community.

Figure 1 - Westbound Ashland Avenue ➡️ Surface course of asphalt will be installed with the south side of Ashland all at once. Trees will be installed in the tree pits at the same time as the south side of Ashland.

Figure 2 - Henderson-Hopkins Main Entrance on Ashland Avenue ➡️ Temporary asphalt has been placed inside the curb line and will be replaced later in the school year with concrete pavers to match existing pavers at the entrance.

Figure 3 - Westbound Ashland Avenue ➡️
The concrete barrier in the center of Ashland will remain, as Ashland will continue to be just one-way traffic while construction continues on the south (eastbound) side of Ashland.
