This session will be led by Nitara Frost with Families Rising (formerly NACAC). For 14 years, Nitara Frost has been dedicated to supporting families through her work at Families Rising. She collaborates with kinship, foster, and adoptive families throughout Minnesota, with a particular focus on supporting LGBTQIA2S+ parents and those raising LGBTQIA2S+ youth and young adults within these communities.
Drawing from extensive experience and insights from other families, Nitara understands the critical importance of parent-to-parent support—not only during the foster and adoption process but also throughout the parenting journey and into adulthood. Through interactions with her own children and other adoptees, she has developed a deep appreciation for the significance of adoptees' voices. This ongoing learning shapes her approach, as she continues to adapt their parenting and expectations daily.

Date – Saturday, October 19, 2024 (9:00am-3:00pm)

Location – Virtual AND limited in person viewing opportunity at Baltimore Co DSS

Audience – licensed resource parent homes and kinship providers welcome

Credits – 5 credits can be earned for the entire day, or parents can attend separate sessions individually.

Additionally, we'll address blocked care—when our nervous systems shift into self-protection mode—affecting connection with our children. We don’t believe kids in foster care should ever be defined as ‘foster kids’. They are kids in foster care, through no fault of their own. May they never let that ‘title’ define them. And may they have the opportunity to shoot for and reach their dreams!
