Happy National Nonprofit Day! 🖤

Nosreme Baltimore started with a pretty simple belief: **Baltimore artists deserve more opportunities to create, earn, and be seen here and beyond our city.

We’re grateful for every artist, partner, funder, volunteer, and supporter who has helped us turn that belief into real projects and opportunities.

There’s still a lot we want to build.

But today, we’re taking a second to celebrate how far we’ve come. ✨

One year later. ❤️

A year ago today, we gathered in East Baltimore with neighbors, artists, volunteers, and the Lacks family to celebrate the life and legacy of Henrietta Lacks through public art.

What started as paint on a wall became something much bigger—a day of storytelling, music, conversation, and community. It reminded us that public art isn't just about creating something beautiful. It's about honoring history, creating spaces for people to come together, and making sure the stories that shaped our city are seen.

August 1st would have would have been Henrietta Lacks' birthday, we're especially grateful that Nosreme Baltimore had the opportunity to help bring this project to life alongside so many incredible partners, the East Baltimore community, and the Lacks family.

Thank you to everyone who painted a brushstroke, shared a memory, volunteered, donated, or simply showed up. This mural belongs to all of you.

Here's to celebrating Henrietta Lacks, the power of public art, and many more community-centered projects to come.

For 297 years, this city has been shaped by artists, musicians, architects, writers, educators, and communities who believed creativity could change the places where we live.

From America's first purpose-built museum and one of the nation's oldest art colleges to world-class collections, legendary performers, and public art that continues to shape our neighborhoods, Baltimore's creative legacy runs deep.

Every mural, performance, gallery, classroom, and community project adds another chapter to our city's story.

At Nosreme, we're proud to continue that legacy by creating opportunities for artists, expanding access to public art, and helping shape Baltimore's next creative chapter.

Public art connects neighborhoods, keeps history in view, and puts Baltimore artists to work.

When we first reached out to Wickerham & Lomax with this idea, we knew we were asking them to do something different. They jumped in, trusted the vision, and created something that couldn't have happened without true collaboration.

Watching artists, developers, construction teams, and community members come together around a construction site has been incredibly exciting. Projects like this remind us that some of the most interesting ideas happen when people from different industries are willing to build something together.

A huge thank you to for pouring yourselves into this project and helping launch Nosreme Baltimore's pilot ArtWorks in Progress program. Your willingness to experiment and embrace something new helped turn an idea into reality.

This is just the beginning.

We'll be hosting a conversation with the artists, the developers, and leaders from the city & community about how this project came together, what we learned, and what it could mean for the future of public art in Baltimore. Stay tuned.
