We are honored to be recognized alongside organizations across Maryland doing important work to create safer outcomes and stronger connections between individuals with I/DD and law enforcement. 💙🧡

Through the Ethan Saylor Alliance Community Impact Grant, Preparing Youth for Tomorrow, Inc. is bringing that mission to life with Badges & Bridges: A Common Ground Conversation on August 4th.

This experience will bring youth self advocates with I/DD and law enforcement officers together for real conversation, shared experiences, and human connection, creating space for youth to use their voices while giving officers an opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand the individuals they may encounter in the community.

📢 We are still looking for a few more youth with I/DD to join us from 11:30am to 2:30pm!

If you know a young person who can participate in conversation, ask and answer questions, and advocate for themselves, we would love to have them join us.

🐴 Time with horses

💰 Monetary stipend for youth participants
💬 Real conversation with law enforcement
🤝 An opportunity to be heard, build connections, and help create greater understanding

One conversation can change two lives.

One for the young person finally feeling heard.

One for the officer walking away with a perspective they may have never considered.

On Tuesday, August 4, Preparing Youth for Tomorrow is bringing together youth self advocates with intellectual and developmental disabilities and law enforcement officers for something different.

Not another presentation.
Not another training.
A real conversation.

🐴 Youth participants will:

• Spend time with horses in a calm, welcoming environment
• Share a catered lunch with officers and peers
• Tell their stories in their own words
• Participate in meaningful activities
• Receive a monetary stipend for participating

This event is designed for youth with I/DD who are able to communicate, ask questions, share their experiences, and advocate for themselves.

We are currently looking for 5-7 more youth participants and 2 additional law enforcement officers.

Once those spots are filled, registration will automatically close.

Now I get to do it on a larger scale, with more meaning and purpose through PYT.

We plan. We execute. We show up for our community every single time. But you have to be plugged in to get plugged in.
