Crime Trackers Middle District recognizes the promotion of Alaina Gertz to Director of Communications for the Fairfax County Police Department.
Gertz brings a strong background in public safety communications and strategic messaging to this role. Since joining FCPD in 2023 as Deputy Director of Communications, she has played a key role in managing media relations during major incidents, leading crisis communications efforts, and enhancing the department’s ability to effectively engage with the community across multiple platforms.
In her new position, Gertz will oversee the department’s communications strategy, guide media relations, and support executive leadership in advancing transparency, accountability, and public trust. Her leadership will be instrumental in ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging during both routine operations and critical incidents.
Her previous experience with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., including managing communications during nationally significant events, further highlights her ability to operate in high-pressure environments while maintaining clear and professional public communication.
Crime Trackers Middle District commends Chief Kevin Davis and the Fairfax County Police Department for their continued investment in strong, transparent communication and congratulates Director Gertz on her well-earned promotion.
We will continue to highlight leadership and developments across public safety agencies throughout the Middle District.
