Historic Western Star Cemetery Cleanup Project

Unfailing Love Outreach Services, Inc. will be organizing this ongoing project at Historic Western Star Cemetery—and we need YOU to help make it happen!

We’re coming together as ONE UNIFIED FORCE to honor, restore, and preserve the sacred grounds of Historic Western Star Cemetery.

Join us for a full day of impact, community, and purpose. This is more than just a cleanup—it’s a movement to restore dignity and respect to a historic space that holds deep roots in our community.

We’re currently in need of:

• 40 packs of nitrile-coated work gloves

• High-visibility mesh safety vests

• Cases of bottled water, Gatorade, and ice

• Light refreshments, cups, plates, forks

• Rakes, shovels, safety glasses

• Gas/battery-powered w**d whackers & lawnmowers

• Industrial trash bags & zero-turn mowers

• Chainsaws, gardening loppers, hedge shears

Our scheduled cleanup at Mt. Zion Cemetery will still take place tomorrow — rain or shine. 🌧️☀️

During periods of heavy rain, volunteers are welcome to remain in their vehicles until the rain passes or visit the library directly across the street:

📍 Lansdowne Library
500 3rd Ave, Lansdowne, MD 21227
🕘 Saturday Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Volunteers may also use the restroom facilities at the library. Please note:

🚻 Only ONE person is permitted in the restroom at a time
🔑 A restroom key is required — please stop at the front desk and let staff know you are volunteering with Unfailing Love Outreach Services, Inc. at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

🚗 PARKING NOTICE:
We respectfully ask all volunteers to use street parking or park in the TOP parking lot located at the library:
📍 500 3rd Ave, Lansdowne, MD 21227

❌ Please DO NOT park in the lower parking lot.

We partnered with the library at the very beginning of this ongoing cemetery preservation project, and we want to ensure we continue honoring and adhering to their rules and regulations.

⚠️ PLEASE BE ADVISED:
This cleanup project involves certain risks, including uneven ground, hidden holes, collapsing burial areas, overgrown vegetation, insects, debris, sharp objects, and slippery conditions due to rain and mud. Volunteers are asked to use caution at all times and be mindful of their surroundings.

📝 ALL volunteers are REQUIRED to sign a waiver form prior to participating in any cleanup activities.

📢 🚨A Respectful Message to Those Attending Our Upcoming & Future Mt. Zion Cemetery or Western Star Cemetery Cleanup Events 🕊️🚨

We understand that many people have questions regarding ownership, legal matters, and the future of Mt. Zion Cemetery and surrounding cemeteries. However, at this time, ownership is still unresolved and there is no new information that we can provide beyond what is already publicly known.

With that being said, we respectfully ask that attendees please refrain from coming to the cleanup events asking numerous questions regarding ownership, lawsuits, investigations, or other matters that none of us currently have answers to. Constantly stopping to answer repeated questions slows down our workflow and impacts our ability to complete the cleanup efforts efficiently.

We kindly ask everyone to stay tuned to local news outlets and official public updates regarding any developments involving these cemeteries.

Right now, our main focus is restoring dignity, honor, and respect back to these sacred grounds. We are looking for serious volunteers who are aligned with the mission of preserving our history, serving our communities, and helping us do the work that truly matters.
