Thank you to all the Baltimore Police Department officers who ran for Signal 13 in the Corrigan Sports Enterprises Baltimore Running Festival this weekend. Charity Chaser Detective Zachary Rutherford passed 2,054 runners along the way, helping to raise $6100 for Signal 13.

Corrigan Sports donates $2 to Signal 13 for every runner the chaser passes and this year the Aberdeen Proving Ground Federal Credit Union kicked in an additional $2,000. A special thanks to Anna Vargas who helps put it together for us.

Anna joined Commissioner Richard Worley, Captain Brad Helm and Signal 13's Nancy Hinds and Gary Mclhinney for the check presentation. Thank you Lee Corrigan and Corrigan Sports for your incredible support.

He's running to support those who serve. They are his comrades and partners in the Baltimore Police Department who sacrifice it all to keep us safe. Detective Zachary Rutherford is this year's Charity Chaser for the Corrigan Sports Enterprises Running Festival this weekend. He will raise money for Signal 13 along the 26 mile route. 🦃 Help the Signal 13 Foundation in Baltimore and Atlas Restaurant Group put turkeys on the tables of Baltimore’s first responders this holiday season!

What does it take to distribute more than 900 turkeys in 24 hours? A team of dedicated volunteers who want to support the men and women of the Baltimore Police Department who sacrifice so much to serve. The crew will gather from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. November 17-18 to get the turkeys to their intended homes in time for the holidays.

Not everyone can be a volunteer and that's why we're also asking for sponsors to help us pay for the turkeys. If you want to support Baltimore's first responders, please consider joining us this year and give back to those who miss holidays with their families so we can be safe with ours.

Signal 13's Family Day at the Zoo was the perfect setting for a check presentation from our longtime partner MISSION BBQ. Board President Steve Sibel graciously accepted a $1900 check from General Manager Shawn Wood for Mission's Hometown Heroes fall cup promotion. Mission does it two times a year to honor our first responders who sacrifice it all to keep us safe. Mission has donated more than $3,000 to Signal 13 this year alone. Hundreds of Baltimore Police Department officers, civilian employees, and their families joined us for the SIGNAL 13 FOUNDATION FAMILY DAY AT THE ZOO – 2026 on October 3.
From great food and music to police displays, kids’ activities, special animal guests and more, it was a memorable day celebrating our BPD families.
This year’s event was our most successful yet, made possible by the incredible support of 72 sponsors, including 10 Platinum Sponsors.

Trevor Curtis of the Baltimore Police Department- Northeastern District has quite the resume for a young guy, with accomplishments that back it up. He is a highly regarded leader in the BPD who has positively influenced fellow officers, supervisors, and the department as a whole and built strong relationships inside and outside the agency.

He has experience in many areas of the BPD, including the district action team and district detective unit, with a proven track record of success as a team and leader.

He was also one of the youngest in a leadership role in the DDU. Lt. Curtis was presented with the Jerry Heid lifetime achievement award at our annual Family Day at the Zoo event last Saturday.

The award is named after Signal 13's longtime police liaison who is retiring at the end of the year.

If you are a Baltimore Police Department officer and looking to spruce up your home, the upcoming Maryland Home and Garden & Craft Show has an offer for you. The show is taking place at the Maryland State Fairgrounds October 16-18 and organizers are extending an offer to heroes in the community who want to attend. The offer: All active police officers and civilian personnel receive FREE ADMISSION + 1 FREE Companion Admission all weekend with a valid ID. Make sure you bring your BPD ID with you to the ticket window.
