🔥🎬 MISSOURI PREMIERE ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎬🔥

The Mound City Film Festival is thrilled to announce the Missouri premiere of A NEW INFERNO — a powerful 16-minute documentary taking audiences directly into the front lines of the climate crisis.

Filmed during Phoenix, Arizona's historically brutal summer heatwave, A NEW INFERNO follows paramedics at one of the city's busiest firehouses as they race to save heatstroke victims using a radical new treatment: ice immersion therapy.
But this is more than a film about extreme heat.

As temperatures rise, cities become hotter, vulnerable communities face greater risks, and emergency services are pushed to their limits. Phoenix has become a climate canary—and A NEW INFERNO gives us a visceral, street-level look at what that future can look like.

We're incredibly excited to collaborate with cutting-edge filmmakers Nita Blum-Reddick and Jonathan Pickett to bring this film to Missouri audiences. The film is proudly supported by The New York Times.

🌊🎬 Another outstanding regional filmmaker featured at the Mound City Film Festival!

We're excited to welcome Thomas Malkowicz, an award-winning Senior Multimedia Producer at Washington University in St. Louis. Thomas is known for creating compelling documentaries that explore science, culture, the environment, and the people who shape our communities.

This November, we'll feature his thought-provoking film about the Mississippi River and its deep connection to St. Louis. Through the perspective of landscape architect Derek Hoeferlin, the film explores how decades of river engineering have changed our relationship with the Mighty Mississippi—and highlights a rare ten-mile stretch just north of downtown where visitors can still experience the river's natural beauty, wildlife, and quiet solitude.

Thomas joins a growing lineup of talented regional filmmakers whose work celebrates the unique stories of St. Louis and the Midwest.

Join us Saturday, November 7 at Atomic By Jamo for an unforgettable day featuring:

🎥 Regional films and selections from the internationally acclaimed Mountainfilm collection
🎶 Live music throughout the day
🎨 Art exhibits and live demonstrations curated by Third Degree Glass Factory
🍔 Delicious food and drinks from Atomic Eats and Atomic by Jamo
