Finding our shots amongst all the bumping and banging. As a lightweight against many heavyweights, lots of maneuvering to load and fire.

Competition #2 in the books now. More unfavorable pairings, and too many unforced errors landed us 17th of 26. The kids did pick up a "judges choice" award for their unique design and use of budget build materials, with the judges affectionately calling our bot the "went to Lowes" bot when chatting in the pits. No one had a bot that looked like ours, at all. Our results weren't what we had hoped for, but these kids should be super proud for creating a truly out-of-the-box design (quite literally) that performed quite competently... very cool Mad Max vibes.

Proof that one is prepping for another robotics competition.

Though the season still has one more competition for us, it's never too early or late to think about the growth of the team. We have four team members this season, with two being graduating seniors. Anyone who's interested or knows someone who may be can contact me at any time. There'll be lots of opportunity to join the team and immediately have an essential role in design, coding, and driving next season.

Our best match, despite the big pause between autonomous and teleop. Autonomous hit all three fired balls, with matched color pattern. Our driver hub failure a couple of weeks back meant that we ran this comp off of our old phone. The connections and hardware are just as flakey now as they were last year. The kids did get the bot up and running with enough time to get some useful teleop and endgame points.

We had a decent day at the Clarkson qualifier yesterday. 13th out of 27, but the robot worked much better than the ranking implies... we had a number of unfortunate pairings, but that's how it goes. We did pick up a 2nd place innovate award, with the pit judges loving our ball color pattern selector that does no mechanical ball manipulation. No changes planned for this week - just more practice and code tweaks before the Broadalbin comp next weekend. (Video of our best match coming).

Less than two weeks until our first competition. Mechanically, the robot works exactly as intended. The kids are dialed in pretty well for teleop. Now comes the last minute push to get our autonomous code put together. Hopefully the driver station firmware problems that tanked our progress tonight don't come back.

Starting to look more like a robot with every meeting. A couple of more guide rails for the autonomous ball hoppers, then electronics go on and it'll come to life.

And now that our season is over... it's never too early to start thinking of 2026. Anyone who is or who knows someone interested in robotics should reach out. Much opportunity to contribute and get involved with designing, building, and programming.

Another good showing by the kids at the Clarkson University qualifier yesterday. 4th out of 24 after the qualifiers, thanks to a much improved autonomous that Luke worked hard all week to perfect. In the end, we came up short in the finals, with a comical meltdown of multiple systems. Still quite proud of what these kids accomplished with their limited resources. They did get a 1st place design award as a testament to their creativity. That's a wrap for our 2025 season, but another good year.
