We’re excited to be hosting a 3-week observational sketching series this summer 🎨
Inspired by the nature, charm, and architecture of Ballston Spa, this program invites us to experience the village through watercolor and ink ✍️

Each week includes:
🌿 Exploring nature + architecture on location
🎨 Watercolor + ink studies in the field
📍 A guided, creative experience open to all levels

One of our great partners here in B Spa.

We have lots of new followers so I thought I would take a minute to share what I do. Basically, I'm a doodler. I draw repetitive simple elements over and over, most often in a circular pattern. I find this art form very meditative.... an opportunity for my brain to stop "hamster wheeling" and just focus on a singular line.

My designs are not planned out. I start in the middle and let the pattern emerge. I prefer to draw in ink which prevents me from erasing and trying to improve on something.

As I was drawing this pattern, I think I said "I don't like this" about 4 times.... and then told myself to keep going and see what happens.

A reminder that things don't have to be perfect to be good.
