Fresh Water Friends Our mission is to provide fresh water for the forgotten: communities so rural or so impoverished that they simply can't get clean water on their own.

We build wells to deep aquifers through local partners, creating ownership and economic opportunity. Our organization funds deep water wells and other water technologies in India, Africa, and other areas facing extreme water scarcity. Our primary goal is to have 1,000 wells serving 750,000 people in our focus areas by 2027. Since 2015, we have funded more than *450* wells in more than 13 Indian provinces, as well as Malawi, Uganda, and Pakistan. These wells provide daily nourishment for more than 450,000 people and their animals, allowing children to attend school, young women to gain vocational skills, and mothers to care for their homes and families. With a deep water well, communities are healthier, stronger, and more prosperous. We mean it when we say, "We're not just giving water -- we're giving everything else that water brings!"

“I have seen how difficult life was before we had this well. Our people spent many hours every day just trying to find water. It was tiring and sometimes worrying for our families. Now that the well is here, our village feels a great sense of relief. We have clean water close to our homes, and it has made our daily life much easier. Everybody is very happy. Even in the surrounding villages, the people were impressed. They are now telling their friends and family about our well.”

Today, everything changed. 💦

The people in this village have spent their lives walking 2 miles each way, just to collect muddy, tannic water.

Today, the drillers started installing a well, right in the center of the village where everyone can reach it easily. They hit water before sunset.

No more mud.
No more long distance hikes.
No more worry about wild animals and waterborne diseases.

Just a future bright with possibility. ☀️

Finishing the well so people can use it every day is a matter of artistry: local masons build a concrete platform around the wellhead and pump (often to protect it from mischievous monkeys!🐒) as well as a raised area underneath the taps that is kept clean and free from mud and animal droppings. Once the concrete has dried, the well is almost ready for use!
