Templeton CERT

Templeton CERT CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) provides community assistance to the town of Templeton and surrounding areas in times of need.

Such assistance may include parking and traffic details for town events, firefighter rehab at fire events, emergency shelters, and other assistance as needed in times of emergency or disaster. All of our members are volunteers trained through the CERT training program offered by Homeland Security. This training includes CERT protocol, basic first aid, CPR, search and rescue, and other training as needed.

**Press Release – Engine Co. 2 Struck by Motor Vehicle on Route 24**

During the early morning hours of June 2, Engine Co. 2 was operating at the scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a State Police cruiser. While firefighters were working to secure the scene, Engine Co. 2 was positioned on the highway with all emergency warning lights activated to protect responders and the public.

Approximately 20 minutes later, and without warning, Engine Co. 2 was struck from behind by a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Fortunately, no firefighters were injured. However, Engine Co. 2 sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers first responders face every day while operating on our roadways. Firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, tow operators, and highway workers all depend on drivers to remain alert and obey Move Over laws.

Today, we were fortunate that no one was seriously injured or killed. The outcome could have been much different.

When approaching an emergency scene:

🚨 Slow Down
🚨 Move Over When Safe to Do So
🚨 Stay Alert and Avoid Distractions

Help us make sure everyone goes home safely at the end of their shift.

Keep vents clear of snow and obstructions!

Keep vents clear of snow and obstructions!

Remember to keep vents and flues clear during and after the big storm. If snowdrifts or piles of shoveled snow block exhaust vents outside, can rise to deadly levels inside. We can't see, smell, or taste this silent killer, so be sure you have working alarms on every level of your home: https://ow.ly/vaIF50UVzue

Keep yourself warm by dressing in layers when temperatures drop. Wear 2-3 layers, a beanie, some gloves, and waterproof boots to keep your body heat in and the cold out. Bundling up makes all the difference!
