On Saturday, August 29 2026 Templeton CERT joined Templeton Fire Department for a training event. TFD was training with the Explorers, junior firefighters aged 16-17, in a controlled training facility. CERT members assisted by providing rehab services.

Rehab is a critical component of firefighting operations, helping ensure FFs are physically capable of continuing to perform the strenuous duties of a fire scene.

As budgets shrink and staffing shortages become commonplace, the need for volunteers is at an all-time high. Training is provided, open to residents 18+ (or 16+ with accompanying adult).

NOTICE: Due to extreme temperatures, Templeton CERT is staffing a cooling shelter on an AS NEEDED basis at the Senior Center in Baldwinville on Thursday 7/2 and Friday 7/3.

Stay safe this weekend! Chances of severe thunderstorms later today.

Heads up for Sat evening: Isolated to scattered strong to severe storms are possible across the region, primarily between 5 PM and 11 PM. A Level 2 "Slight Risk" is in place for portions of interior southern New England, while a Level 1 "Marginal Risk" covers the coast. The main threats are damaging winds and frequent lightning. Stay weather-aware and keep an eye on the radar if you have outdoor plans!
