The Light Center

The Light Center The Light Center is a 95 acre natural wooded sanctuary for personal and spiritual development.

Based in a 125 year old converted barn, set on 95 wooded acres, The Light Center is a non-profit corporation located in rural Baldwin City, Kansas featuring many interwoven projects focusing on sustainability, personal and spiritual development. We act as a rustic retreat and learning center, nestled in a natural sanctuary. Our mission is to offer opportunities for retreat and renewal in a natural

sanctuary. Our sanctuary in the woods is a cozy meeting space that provides a comfortable setting in the isolation and beauty of nature. The barn itself is always available to be rented for events and private retreats. More often than not, it is hosting a wide array of activities, communal potlucks and movies, private yoga practice and meditation, or just the stillness of a summer morning.

Rog has been tending watermelons all through the summer and now they are coming on strong. They love this heat! Just holler and we'll connect with you at a market or at TLC.

This has been quite a summer in the gardens. Rog has dilligently kept things going and watered through the high heat and now harvest is upon us. His rare orgaincally grown produce is unlike the usual things you find in the store. The rare tomatoes include Yucky Tiger, Green Tiger, Sweetheart Cherry, Riesentraube, Yellow Pear, and Apricot Zebra. He sells a mixture of these in a small container for $5...a great deal and you get to try all of the varieties.

The rare watermelons he's growing are... Yellow Doll, Petite Yellow, OrangeGlo, Wilson's Sweet, and Yamato Cream.

Currently only some Yellow Doll and Petite Yellow watermelons are almost ripe, but in about three weeks a LOT more will be ripe.

Petite Yellow are just $5, and Yellow Doll large ones are $15, YUMYUMYUM!

Organically grown lactofermented garlic dill pickle spears are sold for $12 a quart.

Rog will be at the Baldwin City Farmers Market on Saturday morning this week from 8 AM -11AM Or contact us and we'll connect with you at TLC or in Lawrence. 🍅🍉😃🥒❤️❤️❤️❤️

If you've never heard Stan Kessler and the Sons of Brasil listen in: https://thesonsofbrasil.com Stan and a top notch quartet of some of KC's great jazz musicians will play at the Birthday Party Saturday at TLC!!! Whee! Party time!

In Kansas City, there is a popular jazz group that has performed every week since their inception in 1991. This would not be so remarkable, as Kansas City is renowned for its tradition of great jazz since the days of Count Basie and Charlie Parker. What is remarkable, is that this group of native Ka...

Open a door...the light shines into the darkness. The darkness cannot overcome the Light. Simple as that. Love prevails over all.

At Unity, we affirm the inherent dignity, worth, and spiritual identity of every person. We recognize that humanity expresses its relationship with the Divine through many paths, traditions, and sincere convictions.

We are aware of recent changes to the U.S. Department of Defense’s religious classification system, which significantly reduces the number of recognized faith identifiers. While administrative systems may change, Unity holds that no list can define or limit the universal presence of God, nor the authentic spiritual lives of individuals.

We believe that honoring religious and spiritual diversity strengthens our shared humanity. The ability for individuals to see their faith tradition acknowledged supports belonging, spiritual well-being, and the free exercise of religion.

Our teachings remind us:
* There is only one Presence and one Power—active in all people and all faiths.
* Truth is not confined to any single tradition, but is revealed in diverse ways across humanity.
* Spiritual care is most meaningful when it honors the unique beliefs and lived experiences of each individual.

We join with others across faith traditions in affirming the importance of religious inclusion, compassionate care, and the freedom of every person to name and live their faith authentically.

We hold in prayer all who serve, and all who support them, that they may experience belonging, respect, and access to the spiritual support that nourishes their lives.

In all things, Unity remains committed to being a voice for inclusivity, understanding, and love in action.

We (at The Light Center) are looking for bids/estimates for a custom carport-like cover for a leaky entrance roof on an Adobe building we have on our farm.

I can explain it in detail but basically we need a roof with four poles. It needs to be 8 to 10 feet long along the top spine, and ideally 20 to 22 feet wide. It is to cover the leaky entrance to a unique dome building. We want the wide overhang to put in a three season kitchen outside.
