🐢 BUILD A SEA TURTLE! 🧶💚

Looking for something fun to do during Labor Day Weekend? Stop by Turtle Central on Saturday, September 5 from 10 AM–1 PM for a special pop-up with Anita’s Creative Crochet!

Create a one-of-a-kind, locally handmade sea turtle:
🐢 Pick your favorite hand-crocheted turtle body
🧶 Choose a unique shell to match
💚 Put them together and create a turtle that’s all your own!

Each combination has its own personality, so no two turtles have to be alike! Anita’s adorable creations are locally made and make the perfect Bald Head Island keepsake.

Join BHIC’s Sea Turtle Protection Team for a sea turtle nest excavation!

• Friday, August 28
• 9:00 a.m.
• South Beach – Access 30 (Head straight out from the access. Please obey all parking signs and park responsibly. Emergency vehicles must be able to pass through at all times.)

What happens after a sea turtle nest hatches? During an excavation, the Sea Turtle Protection Team checks the nest to see how successful the hatch was (and sometimes finds a few tiny stragglers still inside!)

Come watch the excavation, learn more about what happens inside a sea turtle nest, and see the work BHIC does to protect sea turtles on Bald Head Island.

Weather reminder: If the excavation is cancelled or delayed due to storms, we’ll post updates on our social media.
