FROM THE SHOW CHAIR...

Here's something you won't see anywhere else. This is what the entry fee pays for. After I wrapped up the annual financial analysis, the thought struck me to look at it in a classic pie chart.

Notice there's no segment marked "organizer salaries". Like almost all dog shows, the top management is an all-volunteer operation! It is a labor of love, and I invite everybody/anybody to join us and see why we think it's worth it.

There's one segment of the pie I want to elaborate on for obvious reasons: the slice for the host clubs. The cluster is how the clubs make money to pay for their operating expenses and fulfilling their missions of supporting public appreciation of purpose-bred dogs. And if "Train Wreck Shows" makes you curious - that's the rainy day fund so we can survive those years that are financial flops. Every club has at least one every 10 years.

Please take this as the educational opportunity it is intended to be. Dog shows will be seeing a lot of challenges in the years ahead. Trust and communication will be key to success.

This Saturday, February 15, Texas Coalition for Animal Protection will be at Dallas Animal Services (1818 North Westmoreland Road) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. They are offering low-cost vaccines, microchips, heartworm tests, and other wellness services.

Clarification: This is not a walk-in spay/neuter clinic. For spay/neuter appointments, call 940-566-5551.

I spoke the hotel management today, and they've agreed to hold the room block open for reservations for another week. With the holiday season and the current Midwestern Snowpocolypse, I know people have been thinking about other things.

The deadline for the room block and for registration with meals are now both Jan 17.
