Fifi's Friends Rescue at Laughing Dog Farm

Fifi's Friends Rescue at Laughing Dog Farm We are a small, no-kill dog rescue located in the remote mountains of NC. We try to help many different shelters at least periodically.

Fifi’s Friends Rescue at Laughing Dog Farm is a small no kill dog rescue and 501(c)(3) non-profit located outside of picturesque mountain-town of Bakersville, NC. Fifi's Friends Rescue at Laughing Dog Farm (LDF) is a refuge and haven for broken, lost, surrendered, found, doomed-to-die pupper doodles, who are transformed into beautiful and healthy souls, who for often for the first time ever, learn

what it is to just - be a dog...And all the love-lavishin', funny, sweet, playful, charming, and loyal kinship that comes along with it!! (Remote and mountains are pretty key words here...That means LOTS of puppers in need in that area, withOUT a lot of resources....). Once a pupper doodle reaches LDF, they are indeed safe. They are fostered here or sometimes in a foster home, and vetted to be put up for adoption, or sometimes transported to no kill rescues up North. Then when the days come though, that a special hooman recognizes their newest addition(s) to their family from our pack...It is literally amongst the most rewarding, bittersweet and beautiful days imaginable.

LDF is owned and operated by THE most remarkable, machine of a woman ever. Every single breath of her day is taken whilst doing something that's in the best interest of these fur babies. Her insane and abundant 2nd/3rd shift hrs at her "paying" job, are solely so that she can do MORE for these kids while she's not clocked in or getting her selfish 3-4 hrs sleep a night! (She's gonna get me when she finds I'm blowing her up on here!! I'll take that chance, bc it is the TRUTH!!) KH

❤️ Meet Beaula — the kind of dog you wish could tell you her story.

Beaula is about 9 years old, and somewhere along the way she seems to have decided that no matter what life handed her, she was simply going to remain good.

And good she is.

She is gentle. Calm. Loving. Beautiful.
People? She loves them.
Cats? Fine by her.
Other dogs? No big deal.

Honestly, Beaula seems pretty much unbothered by everything. 😂

She just wants to be near you, have a comfortable place to lay her head, and soak up whatever love you’re willing to give her.

And after the life she’s had, that amazes us.

Beaula’s first owner reportedly planned to shoot her — possibly because she wouldn’t hunt. Thankfully, another man stepped in and took her. He became her person, and he loved her. He was Grandpa.

Then Grandpa passed away.

Beaula eventually went to live with other family members, and her life changed. She spent much of her time outdoors. Then one day, she disappeared.

Grandpa’s granddaughter started calling around trying to find her.

She finally did.

Beaula had been hit by a car and taken to an animal shelter.

At the shelter, they discovered Beaula was heartworm positive. The shelter covered her heartworm treatment, and Grandpa’s granddaughter paid for the FHO surgery she needed because of the injuries from the accident.

Today, Beaula is heartworm negative. ❤️

Her hip has healed beautifully. She doesn’t limp, and her current X-rays look good. Some unusual spots seen on her abdominal X-rays concerned us enough that we had an ultrasound performed, but thankfully they do not appear to be cancer. We were also able to compare her current X-rays with those taken in 2025, and the areas look essentially unchanged. Beaula also had a dental a couple weeks ago, we wanted to do everything we could for her before we put her up for adoption.

So now we’d like the next chapter of Beaula’s story to be the one she should have had all along.

A HOME.

Not a hunting dog.
Not a yard dog.
Not a dog who’s simply there.

Someone’s girl.

A soft bed. A couch if she wants it. A person to follow around. A hand resting on that beautiful old hound head. And someone who looks at her every day and thinks,

“How did I ever get lucky enough to get you?”

Because that’s Beaula.

At approximately 9 years old, she isn’t asking anyone for a 15-year commitment. She’s asking someone to make the years she has left the best years of her life.

And after everything this sweet girl has been through while somehow remaining this gentle, trusting and loving…

we think she has earned exactly that. ❤️

If you can’t adopt Beaula, please share her. Somewhere out there is a person who needs a calm, beautiful, ridiculously sweet old hound girl in their life.

Beaula just doesn’t know they’re looking for her yet. 🐾❤️

Beula is with Fifi's Friends Rescue at Laughing Dog Farm in Bakersville, NC.

This was yesterday, couldn’t hear his bark in the reel. I try to read a couple chapters in the Bible every day, and fail miserably making time to do so , but made time yesterday. Patrick was trying to preach. 💒

I’ve increased Patrick’s food to 2 cups each feeding, I was afraid to give him too much that first week as didn’t want to CAUSE any health problems, God know how often or how little he had survived on and for how long before he was found. I add at least a half a can of canned food, and thank you KJ for the Royal Canin Gastro food, and to Walker for delivering it. Dr. Rachel recommended an OTC tonic to help with his anemia so I ordered that from Chewy and started it yesterday. Getting the pro biotic Erin recommended, and Savanna gave us some fresh eggs and he didn’t like the first one just kind of laying on top of the rest of it, so now I mix it in and include the shell and he gets most of it and about half the shell. Oh, and Dr Rachel suggested deworming him again now with Panacur, gonna do another 5 days. He’s happy , seems stable, just seeking improvement for him. I think we’re on our way.

REY!!!
Scott sent me this of Rey Rey. He’s been with him and Lisa for almost a year.

Rey has been with us for almost a year, and he still likes to spend lots of time in his crate. When he’s ready to get in, he stands if front of it and waits. It’s in an alcove by the front door of the house, and has walls on three sides, so it’s very secure and private. We keep the crate door closed when he isn’t in it, so that none of the other dogs (or any of the cats) mess with his little spot. He has his comfy bed, and Lulu the ringtail cat, his special toy that he positions as a pillow, which is just ridiculously cute. We don’t know anything about his life prior to when our paths first crossed when he was about a year old, and then he spent another two years at a rescue farm, so we’ve concluded that he relishes the quiet time and the security. 🙂💖🐶
