Morning Devotion with Ron Nickell at the Men’s Breakfast Fellowship

Grateful for a challenging and encouraging word this morning from Ron Nickell centered on the crucifixion of Christ.

Considering all that Jesus endured to take on the sin of the world, why are we ever afraid to share the gospel? Ron challenged us to respond to suffering by being Jesus-like in our endurance and trust, rather than Job-like in our questioning.

A few great takeaways to reflect on this week:

>Are we truly abiding in the Word?
>Are we actively making disciples?
>Are we bearing our cross daily?

When we genuinely believe the gospel, it changes how we live—transforming our behavior for the better.

The Men’s Breakfast Fellowship happens every 3rd week of the month.

Thanks to Tim Morton, Mark Murray and Ron Nickell for preparing this morning’s breakfast!

🎉 Celebrating Our Meal Train Ministry at Westside! 🎉

Over the past several months, our church family has truly shown up for one another.

Through the Meal Train ministry—beautifully coordinated by Debbi Larsen —we've been able to wrap our arms around numerous families navigating medical recoveries, welcoming new seasons, and walking through difficult transitions.

While the names and specific situations are kept private, the impact is highly visible: families are being fed, comforted, and reminded that they do not have to carry their burdens alone. A simple hot meal or a delivered gift card is so much more than just dinner; it’s a tangible message of love, care, and community presence.

Ultimately, this is to fulfill our mission of loving people to Jesus.

Want to be a blessing? Here is how you can get involved:

•Keep an eye out for invitations: When a new Meal Train link is shared, jump in and claim a day that works for your schedule.

•Keep it simple: You don't have to be a gourmet chef! Dropping off a simple homemade dish, ordering takeout to their door, or sending a digital delivery gift card are all huge blessings.

•Respect their rest: When dropping off food, a quick smile and a brief "we love you" at the door is perfect. Many families are exhausted and just need to rest!

•Pray for the families: Even if you can't provide a meal right now, covering our church family in prayer is a powerful way to serve.

Thank you to everyone who has cooked, delivered, and donated recently. You are making a real difference in the everyday lives of our Westside family! 🍲❤️

Equipping the Saints: 25 Personal Evangelists Gather for Soul Winners Workshop

"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise." -Proverbs 11:30

This past Saturday, believers gathered with a shared heart for the lost, equipping 25 personal evangelists for an intensive, practical Soul Winners Workshop presented by brother Jon Rowe and sister Raz Rowe.

The spirit of fellowship and mutual encouragement extended across regional lines, with brothers and sisters traveling from several sister congregations in California from Rosamond, Tehachapi, Visalia and local attendees dedicated to personal outreach.

Throughout the day, participants were equipped with practical, relational tools to share the gospel naturally, respectfully, and confidently in their daily spheres of influence.

Moving away from high-pressure scripts, the focus remained on genuine conversations with family, neighbors, and co-workers—planting seeds and opening doors for meaningful personal Bible studies.

We are grateful for Brother Jon and Sister Raz’s labor of love, the dedication of everyone who traveled to take part, the support from our church family and the renewed zeal for disciple-making now carried back into each local community.

To God be the glory as these 23 soul winners return to their fields, ready to love people to Jesus and reap the harvest!

Meet Our Guest Speaker: Brother Jon Rowe!

We are blessed to welcome Brother Jon Rowe for our upcoming Soul Winning Workshop at Westside, and we are thrilled to announce that he will also be delivering our Sunday message the following day!

About Brother Rowe

Serving as the Pulpit Minister and Evangelist for the Southwest Church of Christ in Phoenix, Arizona, Jon brings over 37 years of dedicated experience in personal evangelism, pulpit ministry, and congregational outreach.

His Approach to Evangelism

If you have ever felt nervous about sharing your faith, this workshop is for you. Jon’s training moves away from rigid, memorized scripts and high-pressure sales pitches. Instead, he focuses on natural, relationship-driven conversations. He believes that personal evangelism should be simple, non-offensive, and accessible to every member of the congregation. You will learn how to comfortably bridge daily chats with neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones into meaningful spiritual discussions and personal Bible studies.

Some great takeaways from Stan Freitas’ message at Westside on Sunday.

We continue the Kingdom conversation.

A line that stuck with me: "If you could worry, you could pray."

Worry is basically running the same fearful thoughts on a loop. Prayer takes that exact same mental energy and hands it over to God instead.

Leaning on Philippians 4:7 and Romans 12:2, Stan reminded us that peace isn’t something we generate on our own—it comes from letting God renew the way we think and letting Christ guard our hearts and minds.

And wherever the King is, His kingdom goes. That means carrying that peace into work, home, and everywhere else we go this week.

He took us to Matthew 21, walking through the Parable of the Two Sons and the vineyard tenants. The heart check was simple: it’s easy to receive God’s blessings, get comfortable, and forget to actually honor Him.

It really comes down to ownership vs. stewardship. We act like we own our lives, our time, and what we have, but we’re just tenants.

The goal this week is simple: stop trying to run the whole show, hold things loosely, and be faithful with what He’s put in our hands.
