A heartfelt THANK YOU to our friends at Wasco State Prison for their incredible generosity and continued support of Ronald McDonald House Bakersfield!❤️

Together, they raised more than $7,500 to support families navigating a child’s medical journey.

Generosity like this, from Wasco State Prison and so many across our community, helps give families a place to rest, recharge, and be together after long days at the hospital, just steps from their child’s medical care.

A heartfelt thank you to Dave and his sweet therapy dog, Daisy, for spending time with the families at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House! 🐶💕

Dave has been a long-time supporter of our House and his continued kindness and dedication to our families means more than we can say. Daisy’s visit brought smiles, comfort, and a little extra joy to families who are going through an incredibly difficult time.

Sometimes, a little unconditional love and a wagging tail are exactly what a family needs. 🐾❤️

Families like baby Grayson's.

Grayson was born early at 33 weeks and needed immediate surgery and specialized care. For nearly a month while Grayson was in the NICU, his parents, Paige and Jordan, stayed just steps away at Ronald McDonald House Louisville

"Being at Ronald McDonald House allowed us to be with Grayson in the NICU as much as possible," Paige says. "It was the biggest blessing to us on our journey."

Today we had the joy of celebrating the 1st anniversary of one of our wonderful families currently staying with us! 🎉🥂 We couldn’t let such a special day go by without throwing them a little celebration and making them feel extra loved.

At the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House, our families are so much more than guests — they become part of our RMH family. 🏡❤️ We take great pride in creating a home away from home where families feel cared for, supported, and surrounded by love during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Sometimes it’s the little things, a home cooked meal, a listening ear, a celebration, or simply being there that can mean the most.

We are OPEN. We are here. And we are continuing to serve families.

We understand that misinformation can create unnecessary concern, especially for families who rely on the House during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Please know that our mission remains strong, our doors remain open, and our team continues to show up every day for the families who need us.

NICU stories are filled with uncertainty, fear, and moments no parent should ever have to face. But sometimes, those stories also show us just how strong a family can be. ❤️

Hvitzerk spent 70 days in the NICU. During that time, his momma also was hospitalized, leaving Dad trying to be there for both his baby and the woman he loves. And through it all, Grandma stepped up in an incredible way, becoming a source of strength and support for the entire family.

There were long days, hard nights, overwhelming moments, and probably more emotions than words could ever explain. But they kept showing up. They kept loving. They kept hoping.

And today, we get to share the part of their story that makes our hearts so happy…

Hvitzerk is thriving!

This is why we do what we do at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. Because families shouldn’t have to navigate the hardest moments of their lives alone. Sometimes support looks like a place to sleep, a warm meal, a listening ear, or simply knowing that someone is standing beside you when everything feels impossible.

We are so grateful to have been a small part of H’s story and even more grateful to see this little fighter thriving.

💚 September is NICU Awareness Month 💚

Not every NICU story goes the way we hope. Some journeys end with a homecoming, while others leave a lasting mark on our hearts.

But at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House, we believe every little hero matters. No matter how their story unfolds, we are here to support their families through the hardest moments, providing a place to rest, breathe, grieve, and feel surrounded by love.

We are incredibly thankful for the compassionate staff at Hoffmann Hospice and for our own small but mighty team at the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House who walk alongside families during these incredibly difficult times.

Because our mission isn’t just about providing a place to stay. It’s about being there when families need us most. ❤️

Once a Ronald McDonald House Family, always a Ronald McDonald House Family. ❤️

While Harlow and Hadley were in the NICU, the Rardon family found comfort and support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Missouri. Now, the twins have made it a tradition to give back by volunteering at the House each year, even spending part of their birthday this year packing lunches and preparing a meal for families staying at the House.
