Here is a willow tree our local beaver took down. But we are excited and let me tell you why….(next slide)

Beavers are masters at restarting watersheds. The tree it took down is already rooting and growing new baby trees(the tree is designed to do this and the beaver knows it). This is in an area we need more stabilization along the bank and more shade. Thanks Beaver!(next slide)

This is a tree the beaver ate off the top(like slide 1) and guess what?! It’s totally fine and if anything has a more secure root base because of its pruning. It will grow back and maybe even become a food source for the beaver down the line.

Stephen Winters will be doing a sound bath to close out his art show at RAM this Sunday 10/12 at 2:30. There are two ways to join. 1- but a record that helps fund the Okihi project. It’s a sound bath on VINYL!!!! That also gives you entry to the sound bath.

Some of us just feel more at home in nature.

At Okihi, we’re trying to create a balance between comfort and wildness—curated trails, picnic spaces, hammocks, outdoor classrooms, RVs and campsites, alongside spaces we’re actively rewilding and simply letting nature take back over.

Just 20 minutes from downtown Bakersfield, you can have a few modern comforts while still getting your hands dirty, listening to birds, watching wildlife and hearing the river.

Do you prefer city life, the wild, or a little bit of both?
