Congratulations to Seth Hewett who took 1st place and is moving on to the District contest in Oxnard next month in the Humorous speech category! Great speeches today, including Ben Swihart’s speech which earned him 3rd place in the International category. Great job everyone!

We are a Toastmasters club located in Bakersfield, Ca focusing on helping members reach their public speaking goal. We meet every Friday from noon - 1 pm via Zoom. Physical meetings at Rusty's Pizza on Ming and Ashe are canceled for now.

Today's speakers shared their diverse backgrounds and interests today. From Eric we learned about Crimsafe which offers highly secure and attractive door and window products to secure your home from crime. From Dixie we learned about her experiences in attending university much later in life and how she inspired students to stand strong in the face of life's many challenges. And from Irving we learned about the direct leadership styles as he shared examples from Caesar and John F Kennedy. It was an exciting meeting made more so because of our three guests: Barak, his friend Noe, and Gabe. We look forward to seeing them again. Our next meeting will be September 2 in the Tejon room of the Beale Memorial Library or via Zoom.
