Honoring the Brave This Memorial Weekend

This Memorial Weekend, Miss Kern County pauses to remember and honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our military heroes, veterans, active-duty service members, and the families who carry their legacy with strength and pride. Your sacrifice and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family, friends, and community this weekend, may we take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who served with honor and courage.

Wishing our Kern County community a blessed, safe, and meaningful Memorial Weekend. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβ€οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ€πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’™

Who is ready to turn 108 years with us!
Established in 1918, the Miss Kern County Pageant is a long-standing community-based organization dedicated to the empowerment and education of women in the region.
Community Legacy & Mission
The pageant's legacy is defined by its shift from a traditional beauty competition to a scholarship and service organization. Under modern leadership, the organization removed talent and swimsuit portions to focus on character, leadership, and a willingness to serve the community.
Core Pillars of Impact
Education: It awards scholarships to high school graduates to pursue higher education, viewing knowledge as a lifelong gift.
Philanthropy: Titleholders spend their year of service volunteering for local causes, including the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics Kern County, and animal welfare initiatives like Together Spay it Forward.

Hometown Representation: The program encourages delegates to represent Kern County city and regional neighborhoods (e.g., Lost Hills, McFarland, Wasco, Delano, Shafter, Taft, and Arvin), fostering local pride and civic engagement across the county.

2026 Season: Interviews for the next court are currently underway, with organizations like the She Power Leadership Academy hosting candidate assessments to identify the next generation of community leaders.

The Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosted the 15th Annual Dia de Los Mu***os celebration at the Kern County Fairgrounds
🏡
DΓa de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, is a holiday that honors and celebrates deceased loved ones by welcoming their spirits back to visit the living. Celebrated annually on November 1 and 2, it's a joyful, colorful festival that combines Indigenous Aztec rituals with Spanish Catholic traditions. Families create altars called ofrendas with personal mementos, photos, and the deceased's favorite foods and drinks, and they visit cemeteries to clean and decorate graves with flowers, especially orange marigolds.

Last night, the time arrived for YOU Kern County to CELEBRATE with US!

Last night, the stars were aligned at the Galactic Gala at the Bakersfield County Club benefiting the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. πŸ’›πŸ β™₯️

What an honor it is to pour into an organization that benefits children and family members.

Since 2009, the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House has been a place of comfort, care, and community for families facing the unimaginable having to navigate medical crises and financial hardship. The Ronald McDonald House keeps them close to their children and the critical care they need.

The Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House is funded by a diverse mix of sources, including individual and corporate donations, community fundraising events, foundation grants, and support from McDonald's Corporation and its local owner-operators. While McDonald's is a significant corporate donor and partner, a large portion of the funding comes from the wider community and community partners like Miss Kern County to support the operations of each local, independent, nonprofit organization.

Through our Miss Kern County - servant leadership and fundraising we have also been able to support events like the Ronald McDonald Walk for Kids, providing the RMH residents with a luncheon by Miss Kern County, bringing them love and comfort with a home cooked meal and special treats.

Ronald McDonald House "Summer-Ween" where we joined the community for a spooktacular day of sunshine and shivers! We continue helping to raise money for the success of the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. We don't want to forget about the Christmas morning gift giving where we bring gifts and treats to give to the local children in residence at the Ronald McDonald House and hospital over the Christmas Holiday.

We are dedicated to this community cause, supporting events like these and comfort items for the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House. There's no clowning around with the importance of this cause. Lovely to see all of the community members and The Bakersfield Pageant in attendance. We wish the Ronald McDonald House continued success in their endeavors.
