Founded in 1958 in Mobile, Alabama, Distinguished Young Women is the largest and oldest national scholarship program for high school girls. It has provided life-changing experiences for more than 780,000 young women and more than $116 million at local, state and national programs combined. Along with 100 collegiate partners, we make over $1 billion in college scholarship opportunities available each year. Distinguished Young Women strives to give every young woman the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future

The quest for scholarships begins at the local level, in towns and cities throughout California. Participants from each of our local and at-large programs advance to our State Finals Showcase in Bakersfield, California where five judges will select one participant to advance to the annual National Finals competition in Mobile, AL. Looking for ideas for your fun, fall weekened? Our Class of 2022 Rep, Emily Lee, showed is this awesome project she and her frineds did her senior year! Emily kept her senior year memories stored in a Senior Box! "My friends and I got together to paint and decorate a few wooden boxes to put all senior year mementos into— pictures, show programs, ticket stubs, and more. I also included a letter to my graduated self, because I know it will be amazing to open a year later and see how far I’ve come. With just a few simple materials, it’s a great way to collect memories from your last year in high school!" We LOVE this idea Emily! If you make some Senior Boxes, make sure to share them with us!
