Need help getting started? We host free Cash 4 College workshops throughout the year in Kern, Inyo, and Mono counties. Join us for one-on-one support, or email [email protected] to find a workshop near you. 🎓

The best way to understand a student’s experience is to hear it in their own words. Their stories can inspire others who are finding their own path. This October, we’re celebrating the power of storytelling. 📃

Our fellowship spotlight puts the people behind the work front and center! Aranxa’s journey with Youth 2 Leaders began in January as a tutor in Buttonwillow. She went on to serve as a Resident Assistant in our spring and summer programs, helping our team support more than 300 students.

Now, as our Y2L Fellow, she is applying her academic and professional knowledge in leading our after-school programs and supporting our Migrant Education programs. Keep up the great work, Aranxa! We’re grateful for the care you bring to students and glad to see you grow with Y2L. 👏

Youth 2 Leaders joined East Bakersfield High School and North High School for Principal Partners’ Day! We enjoyed hearing from students, meeting staff, learning about both campuses, and connecting with fellow community partners.

Thank you to Kern High School District for bringing us together, and to the East High and North High teams for welcoming us! 📚

Culture, community, and opportunities for students! 📚

Thank you to Raíces of Kern for bringing everyone together at the third annual Cultura Fest, and to all the vendors who made it happen. We’re excited to raise money for our scholarship program and help local students continue their education!

Youth 2 Leaders is the California Student Aid Commission’s only Cash 4 College regional coordinating organization for Kern, Inyo and Mono counties. That means we are working with schools and community partners to bring free financial aid application help to families throughout the region.

Our President and CEO, Gabriel Adame, shares in The Bakersfield Californian, why those local partnerships matter. Want to help? If your school or organization would like to host a workshop, or you’re interested in volunteering, email [email protected].

Our team joined Community Café Connections to share ideas and hear from other organizations working with schools and families. We appreciated the chance to talk about what’s working, where challenges remain, and how we can strengthen partnerships with school districts.

Thank you to the Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) for leading this effort and making space for community voices in the conversation. 🤝

For World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating Mr. Herrera and all the teachers who make our programs possible! 📚

A Kern County teacher who has been supported our efforts for years, Mr. Herrera joins us at UC Santa Barbara each summer for a month of Algebra Academy. He teaches in both English and Spanish, helping students feel supported as they take on new challenges. Thank you, Mr. Herrera, and thank you to every teacher across our programs for the care and commitment you bring to our students. 📐✏️
