Kern JROTC Alumni Association

Kern JROTC Alumni Association "Our mission is to promote and ensure the tradition of discipline, leadership and community within th

Founded -
After learning that a fellow cadet alumni, TSgt. Herman “Tre” Mackey II, was killed in an airplane crash near Chon-Aryk, Kyrgyzstan, a group of cadet alumni began planning an all-class AFJROTC reunion to honor his memory, the memory of all past cadets who have passed on, and to honor SMSgt. Charles "Sarge" Whitfield for being such an important influence to hundreds of cadets over his ye

ars of service. During the reunion planning process, organizing committee members shared memories of building friendships, marching in parades and drill competitions, attending encampments and air shows, and many other cherished memories and experiences they have carried with them throughout their lives. The Kern JROTC Alumni Association was created because of the common desires of the founding members to give back to the JROTC programs that gave them so much. Although the founding members of the association currently consist of AFJROTC alumni, Kern JROTC Alumni Association is not affiliated with any particular school or JROTC program. The association is independently operated by former JROTC cadets with the purpose of supporting local JROTC programs. We welcome all alumni of any JROTC program in the Kern County area to join the association. What We Do -
We work to support the programs, and help encourage program participation. As well as to ensure that the JROTC program has the resources and support to teach cadets the valuable lessons:
*self-discipline
*self-confidence
*leadership skills
All of which and more we took with us when we graduated, and still keep with us today. We remain aimed at supporting, being a mentor, and a resource for the cadets and instructors of the programs. Our Goals -
We want to help cadets with sponsoring events like Military Balls, Dining In and other events that the programs may need help with. We want to make sure all the cadets have a chance to be successful. We eventually would like to even have a scholarship(s) that we would be able to provide to a student to attend college, and take what they learn in the program with them to be successful in life.
