Kern County Mineral Society

Kern County Mineral Society The KCMS is a 501-c3 organization dedicated to promoting the study of Earth Science and Mineralogy. We meet monthly, September through June. O.

July and August are "dark" because it is usually too hot for desert collecting trips. KCMS Meets the third Thursday of the month at the Mt. Vernon, Veteran’s Hall, 2101 Ridge Rd., Bakersfield, CA 93305 (just south of Heritage Park). Meetings begin at 7:00 pm, with a business meeting generally followed by an informational program, refreshments, and good fellowship. Our mailing address is P. Box 123

05 Bakersfield, CA 93389-2305

We have a newsletter, "The Pseudomorph", published monthly. We try to do at least one field collecting trip each month. Many members make additional collecting trips of their own. KCMS also has a "breakfast club", which meets the first Wednesday of every month. Breakfast club is a fun, social event, held at 8:30 am at Lorene's Coffee Shop, 23rd and Eye Streets in Bakersfield.
