Greater Bakersfield Chamber

Greater Bakersfield Chamber Join us in Building Something Better! The Chamber is supported entirely by its membership and receives no government funding or contracts.

Proudly serving the Greater Bakersfield area for the past 100 years, the Chamber is a convener of leaders, a catalyst for action, and a champion for our community. The GBC is organized to focus attention and initiate private sector action on the major issues affecting the economic well-being and quality of life in the area. The policies and programs of the Chamber are determined by its membership

through the Board of Directors. They, in turn, select a paid full-time chief executive whose basic function is to organize and execute the Chamber's program of work. The chief executive assembles a professional staff to assist in supporting the membership. The GBC works through a number of committees and task forces. Members who participate in these committees and task forces have a direct impact on Chamber positions and influence community action.

The Government Review Council was recently joined by Lauren Skidmore, CEO of The Open Door Network, for an important community conversation on homelessness, victim services, advocacy, and public policy.

Lauren provided an update on the work The Open Door Network is leading to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence and abuse, and those navigating crisis and recovery services throughout our region.

Thank you to Lauren for taking the time to talk to us, and we congratulate her on her recent win at the 2026 Beautiful Bakersfield Awards. We are thankful for the important work she and The Open Door Network do for our community.
