Did you know the little red poppy carries a BIG meaning?

Each year, members of the
VFW Post 7216 Bakersfield
proudly distribute poppies to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

But the poppy is more than just a symbol of remembrance —
it also helps support vital VFW programs that serve veterans, military families, and our local communities.

Donations from poppy sales help fund:
🇺🇸 Veteran assistance programs
🇺🇸 Emergency support for veterans in need
🇺🇸 Youth scholarships and community programs
🇺🇸 Hospital and nursing home visits for veterans
🇺🇸 Patriotic and memorial events that keep the spirit of service alive

Many of the poppies are assembled by disabled and hospitalized veterans, giving them both therapeutic activity and financial support.

So when you see a VFW member offering poppies, please consider donating and wearing one proudly.
It’s a small flower with a powerful purpose.

Today, we honor the women who helped shape our lives with strength, sacrifice, love, and unwavering support. ❤️🇺🇸

To the mothers who raised us…
The wives who stood beside us…
The sisters who encouraged us…
The grandmothers who loved us fiercely…
And every woman who became “Mom” through kindness, guidance, and heart — thank you.

Your sacrifices often happened quietly behind the scenes, but your impact echoes through generations. Families, communities, and even our nation are stronger because of the love you poured into those around you.

At VFW Post 7216, we celebrate mothers not just on Mother’s Day, but every single day. We recognize the strength of the women who held families together during deployments, hardships, loss, and life’s many challenges.

Today and always, we honor you. 🌹

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at VFW Post 7216.
