Stop The Violence Who We Are Stop the Violence (STV), a 501(c)3 community based organization, was established in 2006

Through vital partnerships and by taking a youth leadership development approach, Stop the Violence is building a healthier community by showing kids that life exists outside of their everyday experiences. Stop the Violence collaborates with CSU Bakersfield, the Boys & Girls Club and the Black Chamber of Commerce to make a difference in the lives of young people.

BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

Today marks the one month anniversary since the murder of 5 year old Kason Guyton, and attempted murder of his 7 year old brother, Brian Guyton. Both children were shot while riding in a vehicle in 600 block of California Avenue. The Bakersfield Police Department continues to work all leads in this investigation, and is still urging the community to assist in bringing closure in this matter.

Investigators from the Bakersfield Police Department have also confirmed there was an eye witness that observed the homicide, and it’s believed the witness has information that would assist in identifying the suspects. This witness is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department immediately.

In addition to the $10,000.00 reward offered by Secret Witness of Kern County and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, an additional $5,000.00 was donated by Tejon Ranch, and another $5,000.00 was donated by the community to American General Media and the Ralph Bailey Show. The current reward total is $20,000.00, for information leading to the arrest and filing of a complaint against the suspect(s) responsible for this homicide.

This is the face of 5-year-old Kason who was killed last night after he and his 7-year-old were shot in a drive by shooting. Kason's family asks that anyone with information about this shooting come forward. Someone out there knows something. Nothing can bring Kason back, but those who love him tell me they hope his senseless death can help bring change.

Garden Pathways partnered with Stop the Violence to clean up the Southeast neighborhood in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A great turn out of youth and community leaders. What an awesome kick off to spring break for all of our Xplore youth that attended our camping trip to Scicon in Springville this weekend. The weather was perfect and the turn out even better! Our youth got to enjoy nature through Scicons outdoor school of Science and Conservation.
