Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know Him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.
Hosea 6:3 (NLT)
Heavenly Father, today is a day to intentionally remember the pain and agony of the cross. We remember the stripes on His back, the thorns on His head, and the painful walk carrying a heavy cross. We remember the devastated cry, “Father why have You forsaken me,” when You had no choice but to look away from Your Son because He was bearing our sin. We also remember the triumphant declaration, “It is finished!” We remember the earth shaking, the dead rising, and the heavy curtain in the temple being torn in two from top to bottom. The barrier between You and humanity was no more. It was as if You issued an invitation from heaven for us to come to You and get to know You in a way that had never before been possible. I pray for myself and all who read this today to desire to know You more than we desire to know anyone or anything else. I pray that our hearts would burn with a passion to draw closer to You. Help us to recognize and let go of anything that is preventing us from knowing You better and growing in our relationship with You. You promise in Your word that when we seek You with our whole hearts, we will encounter You. Help us to encounter You in new ways, and open our eyes to see new aspects of who you are through Your word, Your creation, and through those around us. I pray that we would be filled with joy as we discover new things about You and help us to always appreciate the privilege of getting to know You and the heavy price that was paid for us to do so. I love You Lord. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
