We are disheartened to learn and share the news of beloved World War II veteran Ray Mish's death.
Mish was one of several WWII veterans that were honored at our dedication ceremony in December, 2022. Those in attendance had the pleasure of listening to part of his story.
You will be missed Ray.

Killed in France during World War II, at The Battle of the Bulge, James B. McCartney was just 22 when he was killed in action on March 1, 1945. His remains had been marked as unidentifiable for decades, but thanks to advances in DNA testing, McCartney's remains have now been identified.
While he never lived in Bakersfield, he has now been buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park next to his mother.
