Last week, we celebrated 11 incredible Angels Scholars as they crossed the stage at our 5th Annual Angels Scholars Graduation Celebration. 🎓✨

For youth in foster care, graduating high school is no small accomplishment. While only 50% of youth in foster care will graduate on time, these young people refused to let a statistic write their story. They overcame obstacles many of their peers will never face.

At Bakersfield Angels, we often talk about changing the statistics. This is what that looks like.

To our graduates: we are so proud of you. We can’t wait to see where your next chapter takes you + we are cheering you on every step of the way!

This moment didn’t happen overnight. 🚗✨

Christian worked hard for this milestone, saving money, building a budget, proving he was ready, + taking big steps toward independence. And along the way, he had people in his corner reminding him he wasn’t doing it alone.

With the support of his mentor, Graham, Case Manager, Val, + the incredible team at Jim Burke Ford Lincoln, Christian drove off the lot in his very first car. A huge moment made possible by a whole community showing up for one young man’s future.

We are so proud of you, Christian. 👏
