Baker Fire started the week of August 17th out very busy after a quiet fair weekend. Mid-morning the dept was paged out to Carter County for mutual aid for 2 wildland fires in the Mill Iron area.
Then around mid day there was a hay field fire reported North of Baker in the Ollie community. Beach, Golva and the Baker Fire Department responded to a 53 acre fire that burned into North Dakota before getting it stopped. That evening a lightning strike caused a fire northwest of Baker on the Pennell road, Plevena and Baker Fire Departments responded to that fire. The fire burned approximately 91 acres before getting it stopped.
The Baker Fire dept would like to thank all our mutual aid partners for helping to keep these fires from getting out of control.

Baker Fire has had a slower few days with only a couple calls coming in the past week.

8/6 Baker Fire was paged out at 3am for a small fire near the land fill caused by a family of raccoons climbing in some power poles. Fire was 1.6 acres.

8/10 Responded to a fire down Ash Creek road north of town. Fire was started in a wheat field by equipment. Fire was stopped at 25 acres.

Thank you to Golva Fire department and the surrounding land owners for helping fight and mop up this fire.

Baker Fire responded to three fires over the last couple days.

7/24/26 Baker Fire sent a truck to help with a small grass fire caused by a down power line southeast of Baker.

7/25/26 Baker Fire responded to a grass fire south of Baker caused by haying equipment. Fire was contained to just under 16 acres.

7/26/26 Baker Fire responded to a grass fire south of Baker on the 101 road. Fire was started by haying equipment and was contained to 166 acres. This fire was threatening a homestead with outbuildings and several herds of cattle.

Baker Fire has responded to 6 fires over the past couple days.

7/10 small grass fire north of Baker started by haying equipment. 1.41 acres.

7/11 two fires started by haying equipment west of Baker. One being 3.5 acres and the other being under .5 acres.

7/13 hay field fire south of Baker burning 120 acres. As we were just getting the fire under control Baker Fire was paged for a structure fire that happened to be only a few miles from the fire we were working on. This Fire was quickly contained with three units and 7 personnel.

7/14 Another hay field fire south of Baker started by haying equipment. This fire burned 71 acres before it was stopped.

Baker Fire had a busy start to the weekend. Friday afternoon Baker Fire was just getting lined up for the 4th of July parade when we were paged out to a grass fire south of Baker. This fire was started by haying equipment. Later that evening we got paged to multiple fires along highway 7 south of Baker. 17 fires were started in total between Baker and the Carter County line. This was caused by a ramp on a car trailer dragging down the highway.

Saturday members from the department spent most of the day and night setting up the firework display and cleaning up afterwards. One dumpster fire was called in and taken care of quickly.

On Thursday morning May 28, the Baker Fire Department was paged out to a commercial vehicle accident, south of Baker on Hwy 7 mile marker 12.
