In Okaloosa it's 3 minutes. Show up and use your time to say what matters to you and what you want key leaders to hear. It matters. You may not think it matters, but it really does.

Two minutes might not feel like much—but it’s how change starts.
Have you ever spoken up?

May 5th at the Crestview Courthouse is your opportunity to be heard.

The County Commissioners will consider adding 392 homes off Airport Road and 104 homes on Garrett Mill Road—both on roads many of us already know are strained.

If you have concerns about traffic, safety, infrastructure, or the pace of growth, now is the time to speak up.

Your voice matters—but only if you’re in the room.

Did you know...
The County Claims that Dev Orders comply with Comp Plan when they approve them.

The County Claims this in the packet to Planning Commission Members on point after point.

The County writes it on the Development Orders they approve.

But if you request a hearing to show that they don't comply, the Commission is instructed not to consider Comp Plan violations that the public brings up. They only consider Land Dev Code violations.

But the Code is written to implement the Comp Plan.

The law requires the Comp Plan to be followed and enforced.

The County says the only way you get to Object based on the Comp Plan is to file a lawsuit. There is no process in the County that allows the Public to petition for their grievances based on the County Comp Plan.

Does that make any sense to anyone?

Reminder of what is on the Agenda for tonight's Planning Board meeting in Shalimar at 5pm.

RiverPark - 392 Homes off of Airport Rd (see comments for other neighborhoods proposed/approved for Airport Rd.)

Millwood Ranch - 104 Homes on Garret Mill Rd (see comments for other neighborhoods proposed/approved for Garret Mill as well)

Buttonbush Meadows - 22 Homes on Galliver Cutoff
This isn’t just about one project… this is about the direction of our entire community.

👉 More traffic
👉 More strain on roads, water, and emergency services
👉 More pressure on the rural character we all chose to live here for

If we don’t show up, we don’t get to say they didn’t listen.
Silence gets interpreted as approval.

💚 Wear GREEN so they can SEE us.
💚 Stand together.
💚 Show them this community is paying attention.

We cannot keep saying “something needs to change” and then stay home.

Who We Are

We are a conservative group that strongly believes in property rights.

And that goes both ways:
👉 You should be able to do what you want with your land—as long as it doesn’t negatively affect your neighbors.

We are not talking about views from our kitchen windows or construction noise.

This is about real harm to property, public safety, and our environment.

When land is cleared and built up beyond what it should be, it changes how water moves—
👉 flooding neighboring properties and roadways so low-lying areas can be developed is not acceptable.

Your property rights shouldn’t trump mine.

When permit requirements aren’t enforced, and rules are ignored to push higher density—
👉 roads become unsafe
👉 emergency services are stretched too thin

We should never have to question whether help will come when we call.

Your property rights shouldn’t trump mine.

And when there is little to no oversight, we see the environmental impacts:
👉 runoff affecting our waterways
👉 overuse of septic systems and strain on soil and water quality
👉 growing concerns about water supply

Your property rights shouldn’t trump mine.
People who live in rural, AG-zoned areas made intentional choices—
to live and invest where density is limited, where infrastructure matches the land, and where community character is protected.

👉 Developers don’t get to ignore those protections
or reinterpret them for profit.

That isn’t development—
that’s taking something from the people who already live there.

Your property rights shouldn’t trump mine.
All of this is being done to increase profit margins—often by developers who don’t live here—
while squeezing out local farmers and putting our community at risk.

None of us want to spend our time, money, and energy fighting the county.

But we believe this is a higher calling.
And we are choosing to be obedient.

We’re asking others to stand with us:

👉 Show up
👉 Speak out
👉 Share the information
👉 Get involved

Because nothing changes unless people demand it.

Let’s come together and do what’s right.
Numbers matter.

I am attaching a letter about an appeal that was just ruled in favor of a resident, Alan Osborne, suing Walton County. It can be done!🙌🏼

Today the Judge in the Circuit Court ruled against OUR SOIL and in favor of the County. We will be putting out more info and details on the county's and the judge's interpretations of the law. The law that is designed to protect the public. We want the public to be fully informed on what we all face. You need to know. This battle is not over and we plan to appeal.

Fire Safety post #3!

These texts say it all!!!

These texts (between Commissioner Cox and her assistant) raise serious concerns about:

– Fire flow testing practices
– Inspection sign-offs without documented passing pressure readings
– Ongoing please from Baker Fire regarding water pressure

At the same time, development approvals continue.

To clarify:
There appears to be a misunderstanding in one of these messages. There was a public meeting where the fire department was given the advice to stand by and let the structure burn. But the men and women of Baker Fire department made it clear that it isn’t in them. They know their men and women will rush in to save someone with or without the pressure. It’s why they are so concerned.

Our county should NOT be putting our residents or our brave firefighters who are mostly volunteering in this situation!

📢 Please contact your County Commissioners and ask:
Why are approvals continuing before this issue is resolved?

Let’s ask Commissioner Cox for an update!

Fire Safety Post #2

The County states:

“The County must receive a letter of availability from the water supplier… that they can provide the necessary supply.”

and that Milligan Water has "provided a letter indicating they can meet both their daily water supply and emergency firefighting water supply needs."'

But here’s what the President of Milligan Water System said in response to Baker Fire Department after issues with a hydrant during a house fire on Buck Ward Road that resulted in a total loss:

“Milligan Water System is NOT in the fire business, we only provide safe drinking water to the members of the system.”

Let that sink in.

We also located one of these “letters of availability” for a proposed subdivision — Grand Oak.

In that letter, Milligan Water states they have abundant water to supply the development but it does not specify for Emergency firefighting needs.
