Central City Autism Awareness, Inc., a non-profit with a mission to elevate awareness for those with Autism Spectrum Disorder by collaborating with families, therapists and educators in a loving community. In 2016 Central City Autism Awareness was selected as the leading benefactor of Cooking In Central, LLC, to raise funds necessary to transform classrooms in the Central Community School System into a therapeutic classroom/gym in 6 schools. Each classroom/gym would be completed with age appropriate therapeutic equipment recommended by occupational, physical, developmental and speech therapists. Under the guidance and recommendations of nationally recognized Autism advocate, lobbyist and founder of Unlocking Autism and founder of the The Power Of One March in Washington D.C. Shelley Hendrix and Dr. Stephen Felix, Director of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, Central City Autism Awareness is successfully collaborating with school systems, founders of therapeutic networks and providers to address the unmet need to provide for all children and young adults with Autism and special needs.

Happy fall y'all and welcome to
St. Francis Episcopal Church, Denham Springs LA's pumpkin patch. I'm the scheduling coordinator for field trips, especially those for special needs groups, this year. Our field trips include group story time, an activity, and the time to explore the pumpkin patch.

What makes our pumpkin patch different? LOW-KEY and HANDS ON. We have no animals or no machinery on site. Our bathrooms are inside with indoor plumbing. Parking is flat/paved and a short distance from the patch. Our grounds are flat. There's no playground equipment. The patch is on our church's lawn. Small church, off a main road. We strive for a low-key but enjoyable experience. Church parish volunteers work the patch and man the activities. Many of them have backgrounds in education and/or special needs. Our rector is a retired elementary school teacher. We can work to tailor a field trip to your needs.
Scheduling a field trip is available and easy to do. However, the patch is open to the community without an appointment. Great for family outings, a picnic, and/or family/group photos. (Plus, we have our famous, homemade pumpkin bread available to purchase).
