🌈💜 MayDay at Baker Pride! 💜🌈

We had a great time connecting with our community at Baker Pride! Angela and I were proud to share domestic violence and sexual assault awareness information, distribute our Safe Person Toolkits, and connect people with resources and support.

A special thank you to our Board Chair, Chris Barnes, and board member, Rebecca Monahan, for stopping by and showing their support.

🌿 Did You Know?
1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Within the LGBTQ+ community, nearly 44% of le***an women, 61% of bisexual women, and 26% of gay men experience intimate partner violence.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. Together, through awareness, education, and support, we can help build a safer community for all. 💜

As a proud member of the Baker County Coalition for Safe Communities, MayDay is honored to partner with organizations like Safe Families to support events that create positive, safe spaces for our youth.

We’re excited to share Safe Families’ 4th Annual Miner’s Jubilee Youth Event: Neon Rush!

This event provides a fun, healthy alternative for local youth during one of the busiest nights of Miner’s Jubilee—a time when young people can often face increased risks.

In past years, around 100 youth have participated, and the impact has been meaningful.
Now they’re looking for community volunteers!
This is a great opportunity to show up as a positive role model and make a difference. Volunteers are needed to help create a fun, welcoming environment—plus, there will be food, beverages, games, and prizes for everyone involved.

Event Details:
📍 Wade Williams Park
📅 Saturday, July 18
⏰ Event runs 6:00–10:30 PM (setup begins around 5:00 PM)
🕒 Volunteer shifts: 5–8 PM or 8–11 PM

Whether you can give a couple of hours or the whole evening, your presence helps strengthen our community and support our youth.

To get involved, reply to this post or contact Andy Micka at 541-519-6436.
Let’s come together to make this another incredible year!

🍃 Two Weeks Back and Grateful 🍃

It’s hard to believe we’ve already been back open for nearly two weeks.

As we continue moving through this next chapter for MayDay, we want to take a moment to thank our community for the support, encouragement, patience, and trust you’ve shown throughout this transition.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been honored to once again walk alongside survivors, answer calls, provide advocacy, and reconnect with community partners. While there is still work ahead as we continue rebuilding and expanding services, we’re proud of the progress being made and hopeful about the future.

We’d love to hear from our community:

What topics, resources, or information would you like to see shared on our page in the coming weeks?

Stay tuned for our upcoming “Get to Know Us” series, where we’ll introduce our staff and Board of Directors, along with educational content, resources, and information about supporting survivors in Baker County.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue moving forward. 🍃

If you’ve been following our journey, drop a 🍃 in the comments and let us know you’re here.

🎉 Tomorrow is the Day! 🎉

After months of rebuilding, planning, training, and preparation, MayDay will officially resume advocacy services on June 1.

We want to share our reopening plan with the community. As services will return in phases to ensure a thoughtful, sustainable, and successful transition back to full operations:

**Phase 1 (Beginning June 1):** Reopen our advocacy center and crisis line, providing support, information, referrals, safety planning, protection order assistance, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and elder abuse.

**Phase 2:** Expand advocacy services, including services with the Oregon Department of Human Services through our Co-Located Advocate Program. (Hours coming soon.) We will continue strengthening community partnerships while evaluating staffing, service capacity, and community needs.

**Phase 3:** Continue hiring and training advocacy staff while evaluating community needs and assessing our shelter house. Reopening shelter services will be the final step in fully restoring MayDay's services.

We remain committed to rebuilding services thoughtfully and sustainably and will continue to share updates as we move through each phase.

We are incredibly excited to once again walk alongside survivors and serve our community.

Please like and follow our page and share this post to help spread the word.

In the coming weeks, we'll also be launching a "Get to Know Us" series featuring staff and board member bios, along with educational information, statistics, resources, and survivor support information throughout Baker County.

Most importantly, thank you.

Thank you to our community partners, supporters, volunteers, donors, board members, and community members who have shown patience, grace, encouragement, and support as we've navigated significant transitions and worked to build a stronger foundation for the future.

Tomorrow is an important step forward. We are honored to once again stand alongside survivors and grateful to take this next step with our community. 💙
