I have had a lot of questions come in this morning and over the past few days over what is happening with our federal funding so I thought I would update you to the best I can as of right now. As you know in June I went to Washington DC with the Oregon Coalition and spoke with Congressional Representatives about keeping our funding and not lowering it any further. We were successful and Oregon actually came back receiving a higher amount of money than what we were expecting. As our grant funders were preparing to allocate the funds they were made aware of a stipulation attached to the Federal grant funding. The stipulation stated in order to receive the funds your state has to comply with the Federal immigration laws and with Oregon being a Sanctuary State there was is a direct conflict with these laws and with our Governor stating Oregon will not be backing down and complying. We do not qualify to receive our funding for this 25 - 27 biennium. Our funders are joining other states in litigation to fight this. This news is devastating to Mayday, Inc. and our community. PLEASE know that MayDay, Inc. and its staff is committed to providing continued emergency shelter, 24hr crisis line, and advocacy services to our community, and if there's something that we cannot provide financially we will do everything we can to help the survivor find resources to meet those needs for as long as we can. We will be doing fundraising events, so please come out and support out survivors. I also, will be seeking other funding sources and asking for private donations from the public. Thank you for supporting Mayday, Inc.
