We're hopeful, Grant County.
We can rebuild it. We have the technology. We can make it better than it was. Better, stronger, faster.

If all goes according to plan, Grant County residents will decide in May if a taxing district will fund the Grant County Library.

"In Eastern Oregon, courier services risk being cut, which means residents in remote parts of the state will have a harder time accessing library materials.

Programs like the statewide kids reading competition Oregon Battle of the Books, and the Oregon School Library System which teachers kids information literacy skills, are also at risk."

In FY23-24, one quarter of Sage members relied on ILL for 20% or more of their checkouts. Our smallest, most isolated communities are set to lose the most from the loss of federal funding support – Ione, Silver Lake, Wallowa, North Powder, Stanfield, Elgin, Helix, Heppner, Union, Weston, Pilot Rock, Nyssa -- reducing their reading/viewing choices by 99% .

Nearly two-thirds of checkouts to students at Klamath Community College, 40% of Ontario High school loans, and one of every 5 books borrowed from BMCC were from the Sage courier.

Neighbors sharing with neighbors is the foundational ethic of the Sage consortium, and libraries in general. It's a value most Americans not only see as having merit, but as a wise investment in our nation and individual liberty.
