Thanks for your participation! An annual unique event where animal sculpted salt lick are auctioned off for Parkinson's research. Ranchers or anyone with access to artistically licked blocks brings them and $1000 in prize money is given for best blocks, then the blocks are auctioned off as art, some block

s now going for over $1000! In seven years the auction has made over $50,000 which is damn heroic for a town of 10,000. More and more people however are coming from out of town for the event so there's great potential to be able to earn even more money. The auction will be held this year (Sept 20, 2014) at the old armory in Baker City. The event was featured on the front page of the Portland Oregonian, Oregon Public Broadcasting's Artbeat and on National Public Radio's Weekend edition. Type in: saltlick opb and, saltlick npr.

Very successful night at The Great Salt Lick! Brandi McPherson and I manned the bar to help raise funds for Parkinson’s Research. Thank you Brandi and to all the volunteers that helped make the event successful. Big thanks to Barley Brown's Brew Pub and Copper Belt Winery for all the donated beer and wine! 100% of the proceeds was donated. Thank you Travis Cook for the resupply when we were running low.
