Lots of pretty colors with the leaves turning outside and lots of great music playing inside tonight at the Powder River Music R***e acoustic jam. Once again the Wednesday crowd is invited to join our great local musicians at the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City from 6-9 p.m. for an evening of FREE music.

This is an opportunity to hear some of our best local musicians, singers, and songwriters join together and play all kinds of music. Jazz, classic rock, Celtic, country, folk...it's all here every Wednesday evening. Drop on by and listen for a bit or bring your own instrument and join in the circle. Either way it will be a fun night filled with awesome music. And if you don't think you need a new guitar, apparently you do. Dogs never lie.

Yep, it's Wednesday. Call it what you like: mid-week, hump day, halfway to Friday or maybe what we around here at the Powder River Music R***e offices and the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City like to call it: Jam Night.

A circle of music featuring some of Baker City's best musicians and songwriters begins right around 6 p.m. and goes until around 9 p.m. (or whenever we get kicked out of the building). There's plenty of great music that you will know and even some that you may not as those folks with original songs often share their work with everyone.

You can easily be a part of it all by dropping by and enjoying the music. Better yet, grab your own acoustic instrument and join in the fun. We'll make room in the circle for those who want to play.

Where else do you get to hear FREE music in the middle of the week? Come on down and sit for a spell. You may become a regular.

Here it is, time again for another Wednesday acoustic jam session at the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City. Join some of the Powder River Music R***e folks and some of our local musicians and songwriters this evening from 6-9 for some great live music.

There's never a set list: just people sharing whatever they wat to share musically and everyone else joining in. Come down and listen for a while or join the circle with your own instrument or voice.

It's all about fun and the love of music all of these players have. There may be a few missed chords or a few forgotten lyrics, but nothings as bad as the example here.

It's feeling pretty Autumn-like outside today. Soon enough we will see a lot of beautiful colors as the leaves change to the yellow, red, and orange of the season. As the temperatures get cooler and the sun sets earlier, it's nice to have a warm and cozy place to relax sometimes.

One of those places, if you enjoy music, is the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City where every Wednesday night, Powder River Music R***e and The Club host an acoustic jam session.

It's a time for all kinds of music to be shared by some of our best local musicians, singers, and songwriters. On any given evening you might hear some country, folk, jazz, blues, Celtic, or any other kind of musical genre. There are some of the musicians who share their original tunes as well as favorites from the past.

The music begins to flow right around 6 p.m. and goes until 9. Drop by and listen for a bit, maybe say "Hello" to our wonderful bartender Kay Clark, order a beverage, and listen to some FREE music and a cool Autumn night.

It's Wednesday and once again time for another acoustic jam session brought to you by Powder River Music R***e and the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City.

From 6-9 p.m. this evening, a bunch of local musicians will join together to play music, just for the fun of it. There's no rehearsal beforehand, no specific set list, just a bunch of guys and gals sharing their love of music with everyone else in attendance. You might hear folk, country, jazz, blues, rock, or most anything else during a normal session.

For those interested in playing, there's always room in the circle for more people. Guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, ukulele, vocals, harmonic, kazoo; whatever you want to share music with is probably fine. If you're not musically inclined, just drop on by and listen. It's FREE to attend and no membership to the club is required.

While the Summer Concert Series may be finished for 2025 (thank you to everyone who attended and all of the great musicians who played for us), Powder River Music R***e still is helping to bring you some FREE, live music.

Every Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City, a bunch of local folks get together to share music with anyone who wants to listen. It's a mashup of all kinds of music packed into one tidy little circle of players. On any given evening you could hear jazz, blues, 50's pop, classic rock era music, folk, country, and even originals from our musicians.

The circle is always open to new players. It is an acoustic jam session, so be aware that many percussion instruments might be a bit too much for the space. Even if you'd just like to come in and sing, there's plenty of room.

Things kick off around 6 p.m. and go until about 9. Come on down with a friend and listen to some of Baker City's great musicians. Say "Hi" to our wonderful bartender Kay Clark and relax a bit from the day-to-day things that life brings upon us.

And guys...I have a BIG basement for storing extra guitars. Just and FYI.

I have already been visiting the various weather sites to see what we should expect for our final show of the season with Terry Robb.

So far, so good! Yes, there will be clouds, but the majority of the forecasts call for no rain and highs into the low 80s. That's still cut-offs and t-shirt weather for a lot of us. (Honestly, 65 and sunny is cut-offs & t-shirt weather for me)

While I may be a bit biased as a guitar player and as someone who has seen this man perform before, Terry Robb is probably the one show of the season you DO NOT want to miss. Even if you are not a musician you will appreciate this man's skill and playing style. Add a couple more local musicians into the mix to back him up and it's a fun time for all.

The audiences have blown us away this year, so let's see if y'all can do it one more time. Raffle items today include a gift basket from Sorbenots, a PRMR mug, a couple of pair of passes for Churchill School Art, Music, Recreation-Baker City, OR, a couple of Community Connection meal tickets, and a couple of The Mother Lode gift cards. We will also be drawing for our season-long raffle items today near the end of the show, so it's the last chance to purchase tickets for the red, white & blue afghan or the beginner's guitar.

We are not perfect, nor should we need to be. If you think you are perfect: sorry, you are not. That's one of the beautiful things about the Powder River Music R***e Wednesday jam sessions: non of us are perfect and we don't try to be. We make mistakes, we give each other s**t about it, we laugh, and we move on. This is supposed to be "FUN," not a perfect performance. Keep your ego out of it and we'll be fine.

There is some painting and such going on at the Veterans Memorial Club - Baker City, but the musicians will be forming up once more around 6 p.m. tonight, September 3rd, for another night of music, laughter, and socialization. You don't need to be a member to get into the club. You don't have to be a great musician to join the circle. So do one or the other...or both. We're cool either way.
