So proud of our 2025-2026 TMCN Kid's (Kyera Byars, PJ Luper, Brooklynn Joyce and Kendell Miller) and all the Baird High School Kid's who graduated tonight with their associates degree 🎓👏

📣As many of you know, The Texas Midwest Community Network (TMCN) has a Leadership program that will connect high school students with mentors and community leaders during the student’s junior year carrying on through their senior year. A student or group of students will have the opportunity to undertake and complete a significant project within their community and compete for a cash prize that can be used towards college, trade school, or to start a business.

On October 22, 2025 this years group of (now) Seniors presented their project in front of a panel of judges, and today the winners of the TMCN Leadership Program were announced.

For the first time since entering the program, 10 years ago, Baird's TMCN Leadership students, PJ Luper, Brooklynn Manasco, Kyera Byars and Kendell Miller, were awarded 1st Place!
We are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication on this project! They deserve all the praise and more, congratulations! 👏👏

Congratulations to Kyera Byars! She has been selected as our next Black Plumbing Heating and Air - Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union Star Student of the Month!🌟

She's a senior at Baird High School with a 3.86 GPA, is ranked 1st in here class (on track to be valedictorian) and plans to attend Sam Houston State University next Fall!

Kyera is a HUGE part of her school and within her community!

With academics, she's involved in:
• National Honor Society – President
• Student Council
• Taken College Courses at Cisco College her Freshman - Senior Year. She’ll graduate in May with her Associates of Arts Degree!
• UIL- Mathematics, Science, Computer Science, and One Act Play
(she has been a regional qualifier for the past 2 years and OAP all 4 years)
• Band - Plays the Clarinet

Kyera loves to be a part of her community! Here's what she's been a part of:
• Big Red Cub Club: She’s assigned to 2 kindergarten students that she spends time with and mentors.
• TMCN - Texas Midwest Community Network: The 4-member group has cleaned up and completely renovated an area in downtown Baird, changing it from an empty overgrown lot to a pocket park for the town and local daycare. It'll be a place to hang out and cool off and enjoy some games. They unveiled the project on Oct 3rd, 2025!.

The Baird ISD students did a fantastic job presenting their project in front of the TMCN judges. The winner's will not be announced until November 12th. No matter what the outcome is, we could not be any more proud of this group of students! 👏
