This sports program was a vision passed down to Pastor Willie Lamb Jr. by his father Bishop Willie Lamb Sr. Bishop Lamb was born with club feet, and as a child was unable to enjoy playing sports in the manner that he desired. His desire continued and God gave him a vision that he could reach the youth and their families by ministering to them through sports. Bishop Lamb wanted to use sports to sho
w the youth how they could build their Character, work on their Attitudes, help them learn how to work together as a Team, and be Successful in life. In 2015 Willie Lamb Jr and Terry Thomas decided that they wanted to do more than talk about the vision, but they wanted to work the vision. In 2015 they put together two football teams, a flag football team and an 11-12 year old football team. They both faced many challenges but left off with a successful season. In 2016 together they have collectively put together four football teams (6 year old tackle, 7-8 year old tackle, 9-10 year old tackle, 11-12 year old tackle) and a cheerleader squad that is being managed by Sharika Flanders and other volunteer’s moms. This year they have been able to reach 100 plus youth. The S.O.Y. Saints moto is “We are developing future CATS (Character, Attitude, Teamwork, and Success)” and in order to do this we need the support of others. Saving our Youth, Incorporated is a nonprofit organization that is ran off of donations, fundraising, and contributions from our board members.
