The all-volunteer Island Ambassador team is made up of busy high school students who trade their precious Saturday mornings for the opportunity to greet visitors in downtown Bainbridge Island, answer questions, hand out maps and support local businesses. erce’s Visitor Information Services, had one goal: to provide the local touch that makes the difference. The all-volunteer Island Ambassador team is made up of busy high school students who trade their precious Saturday morning sleep-in’s for the opportunity to greet visitors in downtown Winslow every weekend, beginning Memorial Day. Ambassadors greet visitors, answer questions, hand out maps and give advice on island hot spots, beaches, road-ends, activities, and dining options. The Island Ambassadors volunteers, who wear the campaign’s highly recognizable “Small Town, Big Heart” red tee-shirts, contributed nearly 200 hours of service during this past summer. Look for the Ambassadors’ year-round as they continue their efforts during downtown community events including Trick-or-Treat and the Annual Holiday Open House and Tree Lighting.
